Trevor Dixon – Episode 2.5

Posted on Tue, 15 Dec 2009 by midcenturyjo

It all started with this photo way back at the beginning of the year. I’d found the work of photographer Trevor Dixon. A more complete post followed but I’m never satisfied. I lurk around my favourite photographers’ websites. I virtually stalk their work. I can’t get enough of great shots of inspiring interiors and Trevor takes great shots! Even better Trevor has new work and I’m a very, very happy stalker. Enjoy!

Magnus Selander

I think Magnus Selander‘s decision to change careers from music to photography was a brilliant choice. His photos are stunning and have so much to say with lots of emotion. The spaces aren’t too shabby either with wonderful styling.

Koop

Posted on Fri, 11 Dec 2009 by KiM

Koop Design is an architecture and custom furniture firm based in South Africa. It was founded in 1999 by Richard Stretton. Richard’s first 2 projects were 2 game lodges where he lived on-site in remote settings and built the buildings and furniture by hand. Koop’s design ethos – to produce buildings and products that are environmentally sensitive and energy efficient. A crossover between architectural and furniture design forms the basis of Koop; the furniture is approached structurally and the architecture is assembled like large pieces of furniture. Beautiful settings for such beautifully hand-crafted work. Check out the website for all the gorgeous furniture he has designed that can be ordered.

Plans for the weekend?

Posted on Fri, 11 Dec 2009 by midcenturyjo

So much to do this weekend but I’m hoping to make time to explore homelife. It’s the new online home for Australian magazines Notebook:, Inside Out, Country Style and Parents. AND there are galleries!! And it’s where Inside Out magazine’s blog has moved to…. AND there are galleries. I love Inside Out, Notebook: is fab too and now there are galleries. I plan to scour every one this weekend for inspiration. Here’s a taste of what you can expect. Modern rustic featured in Notebook:Magazine with photography by Polly Eltes.

Mikael Beckman

Not hard to see why Mikael Beckman is one of Sweden’s leading stylists. It’s great to see a masculine take on the Swedish vibe but still the core ingrtedients are there – white, bright, comfortable and stylish, a touch of vintage, lashings of midcentury classic pieces, an easy confidence. How about that red kitchen? Not for the shrinking violets! Love the recessed display with lighting. Might have to steal that idea.
