Hannah Crowell of Crowell & Co. did a fabulous job with this renovated Nashville home. Some dark wall drama in the dining room, a bright white kitchen and some gorgeous Eskayel wallpaper in the bedroom made this a had-to-share project.

A huge thanks to Edward for sending us a link that led us to Italian architecture and design firm Marcante – Testa (formerly UdA that I was a huge fan of and featured several projects here). They kindly sent over photos of all of their residential projects and OH LA LA!!! Lots of good stuff but this 150 m2 apartment in Milan might be my favourite. In love with the unique paint combinations, the flooring (including the painted detail) and the fun wallpapers. LE TEMPS RETROUVÉ: The visual relationship with nature was the guiding motivation behind the choice of this place on the part of the client. Materials like wicker, Vienna straw and linen that form seats, accessorized dividers, wardrobe doors, the fake marble laminate of the kitchen table, the wicker headboards of the beds, join forces to stimulate memories of spaces, perhaps experienced in a “grandmother’s house”, reinterpreted here and rendered functional for contemporary needs. A “light” project made of decoration and furnishings (vintage and custom) for a house to make on a tight schedule and a suitable budget for a rental, where the architectural structure of the building has not been altered, though its spatial perception has been improved. The view of the spaces changes and varies depending on the chromatic contrasts on the walls, using resin for the floors that partially covers the wood to become a “carpet” to mark the position of the table and its chairs. Sourcing details are here. When the view is so spectacular why try to compete with your interior design? You’ll only come off second best. Instead be understated, sophisticated, complementary. Love the subtle cloud references in this stylishly simple apartment in Sydney by Ioanna Lennox Interiors. I’m quite sure living here would at times be like living in the clouds.

It may have been only existed as an installation for the Lodz Design Festival earlier this month but how amazing would it be if this hauntingly beautiful old house could retain its modern trappings, even better if I could live there. A fantastical world of peeling ceilings and tattered wallpaper as backdrop to cutting edge furniture, striking art and a jungle of indoor plants. A joyous play on colour and pattern, vinatge and new, this MacMasters Beach home by Sydney-based Brett Mickan Interior Design is definitely not your typical beach house. Oh the clichéd nautical and fish motifs may make an appearance here and there but their presence is a tongue-in-cheek reference to holiday living by the sea. This house is all about family fun in the Aussie sun with a nod to your grandparents’ beach shack from the 60s combined with modern, casual living.
