A London townhouse that is playful & colourful

Posted on Mon, 30 Sep 2024 by KiM

A smart Islington townhouse filled with bold colour, pattern and a riot of playful design details. An invigorating escape from the outside world for a lovely young family – a space which offers both fun and respite in equal measure.
Studio Duggan used some really spicy colours in this home and I am in love. Any tones that make me think of spices found in the souks of Marrakech are going to win me over. Photos: Dean Hearne.

Earth tones in a Montréal home

As much as I love some bold colour I am also a huge fan of neutrals and earthy shades. The tone of the wood floors and beams, brown sofas, linen window coverings, and that green kitchen is divine! (It’s Benjamin Moore’s Mossy Oak). Shout out also to the green and the pretty wallpaper in the powder room. This home really makes you feel like you’re in the middle of the forest. I’d just add some more plants/foliage. Designed by Atelier St-Arno. Photos: Phil Bernard.

Lived in and loved interiors by Emma Stevenson

Emma Stevenson brings harmony and charm to every space. Crafted to be lived in and loved, embracing form and function in equal measure. She is a creator of ambience with a deep understanding of the psychology of interiors through colour and form, spaces and materials. French-born Emma works internationally but is based in London, with a team of highly skilled artisans close at hand. Her service is entirely bespoke, often encouraging custom craftsmanship for pieces that are truly unique.
It’s evident London-based designer Emma Stevenson wants her clients to fully enjoy their homes and have their spirits lifted each time they walk into a room. Full of life and the best energy, and not shying away from pattern and colour that creates so much warmth.

This custom-built home is not only the personal residence of Allison Willson and her family but represents everything design means to her. Nestled on 50 acres of rolling hills just outside of Creemore, Ontario, the farm is a testament to Allison’s appreciation of craftsmanship. It has a long and linear layout, paired with rustic selections and a palette that defies traditional hues, resulting in a unique blend of contemporary and old-world charm. From the rubble-finished limestone to the carefully chosen furnishings, the house unites the beauty of natural materials, timeworn antiques, and modern furnishings while remaining warm, elevated, and, most importantly, liveable.
What an absolutely stunning home!!! I don’t have too many Canadian designers I admire but Allison is now one I will be keeping an eye on. So many elements in her home that I’m sure would be inspirational for my next home. Photos: Patrick Biller.

A 19th century family home in Edinburgh

Heriot Row in Edinburgh is a beautiful family home that dates back to the 1800’s. HZI were commissioned to renovate this historic five story property whilst retaining its heritage. With a combination of architectural and interior design, HZI remodelled the house giving this family of six more space by developing a basement extension. The bedrooms, three reception rooms, dining room, kitchen, gym and bathrooms were all updated, adding interest and character through architectural detailing, custom joinery, specialist plasterwork, furniture and fixtures.
In true Hubert Zandberg Interiors fashion, a beautiful home is made even more beautiful at his hand, with elements of sophistication, elegance and practicality. Layered and lovely! Photos: James McDonald.
