I found these spaces on the Bennison Fabrics website and fell in love with the beautiful patterns. I am clearly a pattern girl, and a bit rare among these parts. A Canada Post mailperson just showed up at my door and I had to sign for the package so I opened the door and she saw inside my vestibule (covered in Farrow & Ball wallpaper) and says “Oh – what lovely wallpaper! You don’t see wallpaper very often” 🙂

HALLELUJAH!!! Designer Anne McDonald did not paint the wood work in this home! That along with the moody wallpapered dining room, the classic European-style kitchen and the dramatic eye-candy bathrooms, is how you totally nail a 1880’s renovation. I AM IN LOVE! Photos: Wing Ho.

Located in Chapel Hill, North Carolina, the home was inspired by a playful, comfortable take on Colonial simplicity. Highlights include multiple handmade wallpapers, including a textured recycled newsprint in the main stair hall. Lots of bright light, some patterns and hits of colour, with the addition of some vintage elements makes this home exuberant and effortlessly casual and inviting. Imagine starting your day in this “Secret Garden” bathroom by Baltimore-based Strom Interior Studio. Modern luxury with a historical reference this pretty summery room feels like it has always been in this 1854 Colonial. I’d end up with wrinkly skin because I’d never want to leave.
