Christmas spirit

Posted on Sun, 13 Dec 2020 by KiM

Everyone is getting into the Christmas spirit and since I don’t decorate for the holidays (I mostly blame the cats because they would play with and try and eat everything) I am living vicariously through others. I am always a fan of how Scandinavians decorate with typically alot of greenery so I tend to devour sites like sköna hem this time of year. This Norwegian home they featured is just how I like my Christmas decor – simple and fresh.

Modern beach vibes

Posted on Thu, 10 Dec 2020 by midcenturyjo

As the summer holidays approach every self respecting Australian is daydreaming of the beach. If we’re lucky we pack our bags with sarongs and swimming suits, maybe a t-shirt or two, jump in the car and join the hoards heading to find sun, surf and sand. Think long, casual days with  houses overflowing with family and friends. If you’re really, really lucky it’s a stylish getaway just like this one in the Noosa region of Queensland by CLO Studios.

Through a stained glass window

Posted on Tue, 8 Dec 2020 by midcenturyjo

A classic Madrid apartment with soaring ceilings and grand windows, carefully curated and monochromatic. Restrained, refined and just when you thought a tad predictable a contemporary stained glass window enlivens the space, adding whimsy and wonder. By Patricia Bustos Studio.

This inner Sydney terrace house celebrates the play between old and new. Four flats were stitched together with a new extension while minimalist interiors breathed life into the reunited space. Rising through it all, beckoning with its sinuous curves a statement staircase. Hargrave Terrace Paddington by CM Studio.

Bright white and pale neutrals

Posted on Tue, 1 Dec 2020 by KiM

It has been a few years since I featured the work of Vancouver based design firm Hazel and Brown. It seems their modis operandi continues to be white and white and more white with some pale neutrals mixed in. It’s contemporary, inviting and timeless. (Photos: Ema Peters)
