OK so I’m sick right now (see pathetic excuse below) but it didn’t stop me from thrifting and painting during the week. It has however stopped me from finishing anything. The painting will have to wait till next weekend. The planter will be home to a fabulous fern (house plants are SO 70s) and that rattan child’s seat is actually one of a pair and is destined to be painted, cushions made and given to a good friend’s 3 year old daughter. A couple of thrones for some princesses to take tea in. I’ve managed to find a doll’s chair and a child’s chair. Now I just need to find the adult chair. Fingers crossed. I did find two other rattan chairs for the ridiculous price of $30 the pair but the delivery guy didn’t turn up today. They’ll have to wait till next week for photos. Bye all! I’m off to bed again.
WINKS – weekend links. Here we list what has come in during the week, things we’ve found and things we think you’ll want to see. If you’d like to see your blog or website featured email us and if we think it fits with our readers we’ll link you. My apologies for a shorter WINKS today. I’m almost dying from laryngitis and a bad chest cold as well as internet connection problems but the show must go on! So what’s in this week?
Here’s what I need from you:
An old high school yearbook photo (can include senior portraits, ‘voted most likely to…’s and anything you don’t find potentially incriminating).
A current portrait photo (can be self portrait, but do your best to make the shot clear and hi-res)
Your vote for Blogging Homecoming Queen and King (among others: class clown, best dressed and most likely to succeed).
I’ll be compiling a yearbook of the greatest ’08 moments to be released in March!”

I’m 18 here but at least I cut my hair! | Annie Hall was big OK. |
So OK Erin here’s a couple of photos from my senior year. We don’t have year books in Australia. They’re old and faded just like I am now but I think it’s rather brave of me to own up to a yellow tracksuit and hair like that. It was 1979. ARGH!!! Yes I admit it I’m 46 this year. The newer photo is not that new, a few years old now. My one and only attempt at selling work at a market. Thank god a shop picked them up straight away. The photo is not that clear but remember it’s rumoured that I’m in the witness protection program. Good luck Erin! I hope others play more fair than I do.
Once again sorry for a shortened WINKS. If I’m alive next weekend I promise it will be longer!
Foxtons Rare is a magazine from London published quarterly that showcases the most stunning and unique properties that are available through Foxtons estate agents. Unique indeed. I am smitten with the blown-up bird photo over the fireplace in the third photo.
TGIF! Time to end the week the way we started it with more “inspiration” from the 70s. Once again our source is Family Circle Home Decorating Guide. Hundreds of Great Ideas to Beautify Your Home, New York Times Company, 1973. Once again a cacophony of colour and a punch up of pattern. Love them or loathe them one thing is sure. You will always find something retrolicious on Desire to Inspire.
I thought I’d share 2 houses currently for sale in my home town of Brisbane. I’ve been real estate stalking again. The houses are completely different in style but both have wonderful ideas to steal. Colour is the key in both as well as a calm uncluttered feel (even if one is styled in the hoarder’s favourite fashion, shabby chic). A well edited room is always calming. The first house is a renovated bungalow with loads of charm. That chocolate wall is to die for. The second is a new build with pops of colour punching through all the white.
