If you’d like to send us photos to include in next week’s “pets on furniture” post, please ensure your photos follow our basic rules: First, the pet must be on a piece of furniture. And said piece of furniture must be clearly visible in the photo, so it takes center stage rather than your pet. (Think of it more of a photo of a great piece of furniture…and your pet happens to be sitting on it). And second, the photo must be of decent quality. If it’s dark or fuzzy (from a camera phone) then it may not make the cut. Thanks! (Photos, your name and a brief description can be sent to desiretoinspirekim[@]hotmail[.]com and PLEASE don’t send me closeups of your pet!)
“Here are a couple of pictures of my kitten Alice. She is 14 weeks old and a wild little thing. She loves to play, sleep and scratch on my sofa.”
– Kristine (Norway)
“This is TingTing (aka Baby). She’s a 10 month old Green Cheek Conure who loves to be with me. I have been reupholstering these chairs and she’s been with me the whole time. Try pounding nails with a parrot sitting on your hand…or head. I wanted to get a shot of the chair stripped down to the muslin and burlap because it was so pretty. TingTing obviously thought she should be in the photo…it’s like she’s saying ‘you are taking a picture of ME right?!’”
– Dane
“My lovely Lilah on her (and my) favorite ‘flea market find and fix’ chair.”
– Shelly
“This is my kitty Poe posing in the afternoon sun. We lived in a 1940’s stream-line Art Deco apartment building in LA (built by the man who played the Tin Man in the Wizard of Oz) and bought furniture to match the aesthetic. Of course, Poe thought it was just for her.”
– Joanna
“This is our dog Keely whom we adopted out of the side of a van in a parking lot. She has been the love of our lives and couldn’t ask for a better companion! Here she is in one of her many unusual spots on a lazy day…”
– Courtney
“This is Marcel. He has to inspect every new….anything…that comes into the house. Here he is checking out our new vintage Danish rosewood chest.”
– Chris
“Coltrane is the spokescat for my art business. Whenever the camera comes out he knows it is time to get professional. As you can see he is very god at his job. You can see him at work at www.rikizarris.etsy.com”
– Riki
“I’m a big fan of your blog and a fellow Ottawan! We have two pups, Sam and Milo (in the foreground), who own the living room sofa, even though they are continually warned not to. I have been trying for months to get a shot to send in for Monday’s Pets on Furniture, but these fellas are camera shy and usually make themselves scarce when they hear the camera turn on. This time they were not so quick!”
– Donna
“Here is our cat Rory making himself comfortable on our newly upholstered arm chairs. He thinks we had them reupholstered just for him.”
– Jess
Sometimes a portfolio leaves you breathless. Sometimes it is just so fabulous you stamp your feet under your computer and whisper “yes” “yes” “yes”. Peter Fehrentz is a German stylist and set designer. Peter Fehrentz is my new crush. Don’t let these first few looks fool you. You’ll find that Peter is the master of many styles but always fresh, always inspiring and very now.
… is the most strenuous thing I will do this weekend
It’s a three day weekend here in Oz. Labour Day. There are no plans for any sort of labour for my three days. Monday for me will be Sloth Day. Solidarity sisters and brothers 😉 So here for your delectation is a labour intensive (well hours of bloggy fun) reading guide. Enjoy!
