TGIF!

Posted on Fri, 9 Jul 2010 by KiM

My fiancé and I spent the evening at my parent’s place getting the trailer put into place in the back corner of their acre property. (For trailer details check out her blog posts here). It looks TOTALLY adorable and is coming along quite nicely, especially after a coat of paint from my twin sister, and now that it’s off the driveway. My mom wants to have a little deck/stairs built out front of it and do some planting around it. I am hoping we can at least spruce the outside up a bit in the next 2 weeks before the wedding so we can get some photos in front of it. 🙂 That all being said (perhaps I’m rambling because we’re in day 4 or 5 of a ridiculous heat wave here and I’m lacking sleep) I didn’t have much time for blog stuff so I figured I’d just slap up some more photos from the lovely www.micasarevista.com. The first bunch are of a cool renovated apartment that is just the right amount of funky (hello brown leather chesterfield!) and vintage and comfy furnishings. The last 2 are of a gorgeous dining space (I love benches for seating at a dining table).

Sometimes it’s either black or white. You either like it or you don’t. It’s either hard and cold and impersonal or it’s clean and slick and modern. It’s monumental or monstrosity. Sometimes it’s also just a little grey. Although I couldn’t move in and be truly happy there  are elements of this Melbourne home that I really like. The gardens, the concrete floors, the art, the space. Then the little voice in my head goes”nooooo… not for me”. Does it tick the boxes for you or do you want to close the door on it? I’ve been real estate stalking again. The link is here while it lasts.

Reader request – stair runners

Posted on Thu, 8 Jul 2010 by KiM

This reader request comes from Melinda: “My partner and I are renovating our 130 year old semi in Sydney, he wants carpet on the stairs (because apparently I ‘clunk’… which to be perfectly honest I do) and I want to stain the original timber. I’m thinking a stair runner may be the perfect compromise. I would be very much appreciative if you could dig into your amazing picture resources for stair runners.” Here are some photos of inspirational stair runners for you Melinda, the first being my absolute favourite EVAH.

Dream space

Welcome to the oh so chic showroom and offices of Julia Buckingham Edelmann of Buckingham ID in Chicago. When Julia sent over photos recently I was green with envy. Never mind working here I’d move in and call it home. I love the stark white industrial meets sophisticated urban living vibe. Please interior design gods grant me that chandelier, the sculptures, the lucite chairs, Julia’s office and the conference table and chairs. Congratulations on a fabulous space Julia!

Freunde von Freunden

A big thanks to reader Lilian for sending us the link to a German website which is going to be a new favourite regular stop of mine. It’s called Freunde von Freunden and it’s a spitting image of Todd Selby’s The Selby, featuring glances into the homes and workspaces of creative people. I devoured the site and selected a bunch of photos that really intrigued me.
