Monday’s pets on furniture

Posted on Mon, 3 Oct 2011 by KiM

If you’d like to send us photos to include in next week’s “pets on furniture” post, please ensure your photos follow our basic rules: First, the pet must be on a piece of furniture. And said piece of furniture must be clearly visible in the photo, so it takes center stage rather than your pet. Think of it more of a photo of a great piece of furniture that you want to show off…and your pet happens to be sitting on it. And second, the photo must be of decent quality. If it’s dark or fuzzy (from a camera phone) then it may not make the cut. Thanks! (Photos, your name, location and a brief description can be sent to  desiretoinspirekim[@]hotmail[.]com and PLEASE don’t send closeups of your pet!)

This is my mother’s white cat, Harry, sleeping on her bed in her Greek house. She has one of the last unrenovated but lovingly restored and maintained traditional houses in the village.

Sasha Kilmouseky posing regally on a chair I found 20 years ago in Melbourne at an exhibition for Art Park fabric designs.
– Karina (Sydney, Australia)

This Ella Fitz. on our new chair, in Trondhjem, Norway. The chair was found in a second hand shop and painted with our favorite color. Ella is happy as long as she stays in the centre of attention, a spoiled little lady.
– Lars & Kristian

I thought you might enjoy a photo of my new burmese kitten Sprocket on our gorgeous handmade Windsor Chair. We bought the chair as part of our wedding gifts ; it has been handmade using Australian native timbers and it is just beyond gorgeous (and the kitten is very sweet too).
– Nikla

This is my baby Stella sittting on my favorite chair from Goodwill. 🙂
– Tara

This is Mindy, my 1.5 year Miniature Pinscher, on one of our newly upholstered bergere chairs.  Normally a blur in pictures, I am very proud of her for staying still and looking at the camera… without the intent of investigating and playing with it.
– Pearl

This is Lucy the sweetest cat ever, who loves to lay in the sun on the desk in my studio
– Pati

Here is a picture of my cat, Robert lounging in the sun in his favorite chair. The chair belonged to my grandfather and it has traveled with me to 4 states and 8 apartments!
– Elizabeth (Kansas City, MO)

This is Jaffa, a creme Ragdoll kitten 8 weeks old, inside a chinese stool. This stool is from Shanghai, an elderly lady was sitting on it in a shop and I asked her if she wanted to sell it, and she did. No no no, said my husband, but later he was happy too 😀
– Leena (Finland)

This is my boyfriend’s dog Tessie. We just moved into a house together and this is a temporary bed while we get our bedroom painted and carpeted. She and this bed (well futon) were made for each other!
– Lindsay

Upon arrival, our cat Mischa immediately claimed one of the new eiffel side chairs.
– Nat (Cambridge MA)
Here is a picture of my new cat named Baker.  I found him as a 4 week old kitten at the showroom in High Point, where I am a sales associate.   He is now about 4 months old! Baker is perched on our Stately Homes silver chest, along with a Laura Kirar Syro table lamp by Baker.
– Dale (High Point, NC)

1 – Lewis, our beautifully ugly Boxer, on ‘his’ arm chair keeping watch for the neighbour’s cat. Tooting, London
2 – Tito, our not so beautiful Boxer, indignant at being left alone in the hotel room. Hipping Hall, Kirkby Lonsdale
3 – Lewis & Tito hogging the new snuggler sofa. We haven’t had a look in since it arrived. Empingham, Rutland
– Tobi & Gemma

There is my 14 years old cat Lili on my bed hugging her friend Orni.
– Olga (Bilbao, España)

This is my 8 pound Poodle Auri, she went to see the Beautiful Baker Furniture one day.
– Vickie

priscilla says:

mondays are really nice with pof! thanks.
do boxers in england have tails? us boxers all have docked nubs! our boxer is a little too fast these days to catch him (on the furniture) with the camera.

Sarah Zb says:

They're all gorgeous!

Karen J says:

Lewis & Tito, a lovely beautifully ugly twosome!

Ypille says:

Harry (pic 1 & 2) is the most beautiful" chameleon" I ever saw!

sue says:

Phyllis: Boxers have tails, yes.

Tobi and Gemma's Boxers (Tito and Lewis, lucky dogs) in England have tails. Perhaps, only Americans cut animals' tails off which is obviously inhumane and barbaric.

Love the Brits for their compassion towards animals. The first vegetarian society was founded in Britain.

Maja says:

I'm in love with Ella Fitz too! Sweetest little face. Thank you for your 'pets on furniture' posts.

malisams says:

where oh where can i find rugs just like those in the first shot? i'm in love with them, and a google search for "striped runner rug" turns up all sorts of commercial-y tight-pile monstrosities….

Christina says:

malisams – They look like rag rugs. Google it or here's a nice site with some for sale: http://www.country-gallery.com/ragrugs.html

I am in love with all the beautiful kitties in this post!

malisams says:

brilliant – thank you, christina!

LindaInfa says:

Sue – Apparently you can get naturally bred short tail Boxers (bobtails). So they can be born with a short or long tail. Obviously the short is a recessive gene. In Australia it is also illegal to dock tails and ears, I think in America they can do anything. 🙁

I hang out for Monday just to see Pets on Furniture!! LOVE all the animals.
