I knew it was time. I had sweaty palms, a slight headache, a dry mouth. I was hanging out… for my favourite interiors magazine. I knew it was time for the latest edition of Inside Out when an email from Lee Tran Lam, Managing Editor arrived in my inbox. I knew it would be a sneak peek at one of the fabulous homes in the March issue. I just knew it. Here’s what she wrote,
It’s the weekend home of interior designer and stylist Kali Cavanagh – and with a CV like that, it’s unsurprising that it’s a beautiful, well-furnished space. It’s located in Daylesford and has a nice mix of age-worn industrial pieces. She’s also added lots of personal touches – courtesy of her toolbox and DIY-savviness. In the bathroom, there’s a vanity that’s unlike any I’ve ever seen before. “It was a desk,” she says. “I removed the legs, cut down the top and cut a hole for the sink then added one of the desk legs at the front.” She also transformed a set of drawers into another vanity, placing brass French mailbox name plates near the handles. (The stylist is Julia Green and photographer Armelle Habib.)
Aussie readers can pick up their copy of the March Inside Out Thursday. Don’t fret if you aren’t in Australia though because you can read along on Zinio, Google Play and the Apple Newsstand.

I love what a statement that framed flag makes in the bedroom above. Art is such a fun way to bring a graphic element into a space. If you’re looking for tips from interior designers on how to display art in your home, then check out this article.
I have done a couple of features on Italian photographer Max Zambelli recently (here and here), but since I find his photos so captivating, I thought I would give it another go. Absolutely incredible composition and light that brings these photos to life and have you craving more.
Love this photograph by Jeroen van der Spek. The soft light that washes in from the window. The wall of not so green greenery through the arch. The rustic table and the old mismatched chairs. The flicker of candle light. A story told through the lens of a camera.
A rambling, rollicking heap of old and new, east and west, eccentricity and eclecticism. Oh the ceilings, the garden, the quirky touches here and there and everywhere. I’m stalking a house with a BIG personality in Fitzroy North, Melbourne. Link here while it lasts.
I adore this kitchen – a collaboration between Croma Design and Style at Home magazine’s Editor-in-Chief Erin McLaughlin. Sleek yet warm, bright and inviting, with just the right amount of texture with that stunning backsplash. (Photos by Virginia MacDonald)
