Stalking the art

Posted on Mon, 19 May 2014 by midcenturyjo

Behind a simple fence is a 1930’s house with some 1960’s alterations and a whole lot of style from the current owner. (Referred to in the real estate blurb as an “art identity”. No wonder I love this place.) A little earthy, not too pretentious and chock a block with beautiful art. If I could buy it just as it is in these photos I’d be very, very happy. From the cracked polished concrete floors to the simple master bedroom I’ll take it all. Link here while it lasts.

Eclectic on a Sunday

Posted on Sun, 18 May 2014 by KiM

While I try and snap out of my cottage coma (wow, a day of fresh air can do wonders), please enjoy this funky, eclectic location home I found via 1st Option. It is a mid-century chair porn delight, with really beautiful architecture as so many British homes have. Also could not help but notice the flooring throughout…*sigh*.

Stalking leftovers

Posted on Sat, 17 May 2014 by midcenturyjo

Busy day. In a rush. You know the story. I’m fussy. You like to look anyway 🙂 Not quite right, bad photos, I need more photos please, house is amazing furniture is deplorable or no furniture at all! Can’t quite put my finger on it listings with something that has me nodding “yes”. This week’s leftovers include a couple of promising houses with a little too much shiny stone, Mr Potato Head prints on a bedroom wall, several trips to the countryside for a getaway, a vine covered warehouse (everything inside must go) and a lovely home where I’m sure the real estate agent pushed all the furniture up against the walls… “It will make the rooms look bigger in the photos.”. All via realestate.com.au.

You can find me here….

Summer is here, it is hot and I LOVE it, and I want to spend every single minute I can outdoors. Being cooped up indoors for 6 months really gets to me. So over this weekend (a long one for us Canadians), enjoy the warmth, the sun and your favourite beverage. I will be heading to my sister’s cottage tomorrow to help christen cottage season, but in the meantime you can find me at any one of these locations… 😉

Tuft love

Posted on Fri, 16 May 2014 by KiM

About 7 years ago I did a post titled Tuft love, to share my love for all things tufted. It seems tufted furnishings never really go out of style, and I noticed many spaces lately while doing blog research that featured tufted chairs, headboards, sofas, ottomans etc. I have always loved a little tuft here and there – it amps up the glam factor and makes an otherwise boring piece of furniture more visually appealing and cozy looking. So I thought it was about time to bring back some tuft love.

P.S. A huge thanks to the folks at Domino mag (one of our favourites since it’s inception) for including us in their list of the 26 best design blogs – we are among many really awesome blogs so it is really an honour. 🙂
