Mixing old with new

Posted on Mon, 4 Aug 2014 by KiM

It is a holiday here in this fine province, and coupled with the fact that our blog interface is being ridiculously slow and I have too many chores to sit around and wait for everything to take forever to load, I leave you with this only this photo. A mix of old and new. A juxtaposition that always makes me smile.

Monday’s pets on furniture

Posted on Mon, 4 Aug 2014 by KiM

If you would like to send me photos to include in next week’s pets on furniture post, please ensure your photos follow these basic rules: First, the pet must be on a piece of furniture. And said piece of furniture must be clearly visible in the photo, so it takes center stage rather than your pet. Think of it more of a photo of a great piece of furniture that you want to show off…and your pet happens to be sitting on it. And second, if the photo is too dark or unfocused it may not make the cut. Photos, your name, location and a brief description can be sent to kim[at]desiretoinspire[dot]net. Thanks!

Eloise (English bulldog) and Ines (French bulldog) enjoying our unseasonably cool Nashville weather on our back porch couch. (80’s in July!?!?!?) I smell a nap in their future.

So, a few years ago I submitted pictures of my tub-a-lub cat, Tom Hanks.

Tom Hanks is still with me, but I wanted to submit his younger cat-mate, Meg Ryan! My boyfriend and I adopted her from the Lowell Humane Society a few months ago. I caught her in a funny pose on a chair, just like I did with Hanks. Do you think he gave her pointers?

This is our 12yo miniature pinscher Mr Jani. We live in Perth, Australia. He loves nothing more than following the sun around the house and lucky for him comfy chairs happen to be in the perfect spots year round, here he his on my fathers original 1960’s bought Parker armchairs, his other favorite chair is an eames lounge Chair snuggles on a blanket when the sun is hiding 🙂
– Veronique

Another busy day in the life of MegaCat! He has claimed this Ercol style chair and as such his mum and brother are not allowed near it anymore!

Attached are my rescue girls Heidi and Bailey. Also one of my favourites of Heidi ‘hiding’ on my new cowhide.

1 – Hannah, Landen and Madeline enjoying their morning quiet time in the sun on THEIR bed.
2 – Hannah, Landen and Madeline completely contented.
3 – This little princess would make any piece of furniture she was on, look fabulous! We recently lost this beauty to cancer, which is why the clouds in heaven appear more spectacular!
– Renee (Ventura, California)

Please find attached a couple of pics of our distinguished gentlemen. Our 9 1/2 year old Border Collie x Labrador dogs Murphy and Guinness are enjoying a bit of early morning winter sunshine on our Jasper lounge suite by King Furniture. Murphy seems quite at home in amongst the cushions and Guinness is enjoying the length and comfort of the chaise lounge section…….seems their regular dog beds just dont cut it these days.
– Melissa (Tweed Heads, Australia)

And a few from me. Lucky chillin’ on the couch next to my new fabulous Ikea cushion…the herd at chow time…and the first time we all hung out in the new backyard (kitty approved).

A beautiful staircase

Like a daisy crown woven in spring, a climber rose winding upwards, the filligree icing on a wedding cake. A most beautiful staircase by Rotterdam based Maxwan architects + urbanists.

Passage Landrieu

Posted on Mon, 4 Aug 2014 by midcenturyjo

The trip had been long. Australia is, after all, the other side of the world but as the taxi made its way towards Passage Landrieu her excitement mounted. She was in Paris. At last. Tomorrow the adventure would begin in earnest. For now, though, she stood in the doorway of the loft she would call home for the next few days. She felt in tingle run up her spine as she took it all in. So chic, so eclectic, so perfect. (Via onefinestay.)
