Dipping in

Posted on Wed, 12 Aug 2015 by midcenturyjo

Like a dip in a cool, fresh stream I’ve been diving into the portfolio of Los Angeles interior designer Martha Mulholland and I don’t want to come out. Can you blame me? And these are just two of the beautiful homes she has created.

Daydreaming in the kitchen

Posted on Wed, 12 Aug 2015 by midcenturyjo

I’m daydreaming that I’m standing in this kitchen washing dishes. There’s a smile on my face. Yes I know I’m washing dishes but it’s not a chore in such a bright and airy kitchen. Simple and chic. Loads of style for not much lolly. I’d even be happy in the other kitchen. Other kitchen? You see this is a duplex in a historic Ole Hanson building with interiors by Californian interior designer Jesse DeSanti of Jette Creative. Past meets present, liveable meets loveable.

Another Minale + Mann project

A couple of months ago I featured this townhouse project by British architecture, interior and furniture design firm Minale + Mann, and thought I would share another because these folks have such a great eye for colour and scale. Love the “Farrow & Ball” shades in this one, and the kitchen is a DREAM. I only wish there were more photos.

An apartment by Tavares Duayer Arquitetura

I came across this apartment by São Paulo architecture firm Tavares Duayer because BLACK, BRICK, CONCRETE, SUBWAY TILES…all of which results in a really cool industrial, masculine-vibe space. The black windows and doors are a nice touch too. The decor is well done too, but I would change out the light fixtures everywhere but the enamel kitchen pendants.

Light and bright in Spain

Crisp, contemporary lines within an older building. White walls bounce light while splashes of colour in furnishings and art, wide oak planks, original posts and warm wood tones ensure that the spaces are not sterile. Casa CC58 in Barrio Salamanca, Madrid by Lucas y Hernández-Gil Arquitectos.
