More from Singapore

Because their work is so stylishly serene. #0432 by 0932 Design Consultants.

P.S. Did you notice the walls of glass between the kitchens and living areas of both these homes? Great visual continuity, a sense of open plan but odours kept out of the rest of the small apartment.

Serene in Singapore

Posted on Thu, 19 Nov 2015 by midcenturyjo

Singapore, the land of cookie cutter apartments stacked on top of each other high into the sky. A necessity in such a densely populated city state. Nothing cookie cutter about this apartment by 0932 Design Consultants. Beautiful, serene. The monochromatic palette opens up the space while texture adds interest and warmth. An emphasis on natural materials feeds the mind and the soul. Graceful, simple luxury.

Stalking Harry Seidler

I’m stalking the Holy Grail of modernist design. Thurlow House, in the Sydney suburb of Blakehurst, is part of an important collection of early houses by one of Australia’s great architects, Harry Seidler. This untouched gem from 1952 has my mid century heart fluttering. A very sympathetic renovation (the carpet on the stairs must go), fill it full of classic furniture and live your mid century dream. For sale via Modern House.

Yesterday I shared a round-up of photos featuring plants as decor. I understand that some people don’t have a green thumb and plants aren’t really their thing….so how about plant wallpaper? Bringing the outdoors in but keeping it inanimate. Because you can’t kill wallpaper!
