What do you get when you refurbish an apartment with great historic bones but the client wants modern minimalism? Why a stunning home with a contemporary edge and fabulous features from the past. I love the exposed brick walls juxtaposed with sleek industrial finishes and that wedding cake Art Noveau cornice contrasting with the simple plank walls. What do you think of the two part kitchen? The edgy loft of a music lover

Posted on Thu, 5 Dec 2019 by KiM

This loft in Livorno, Italy is where art, music, plants and custom furniture come together to create an edgy, unique home. Also, I’m really digging how the hardwood floor was laid. Very cool! Designed by MODO architettura + design.

A Manhattan pied-à-terre

Posted on Thu, 5 Dec 2019 by KiM

I am smitten with this Manhattan pied-à-terre that may be small in size but is loaded with sophistication. Designed by Kyle O’Donnell of Gramercy DesignA small penthouse apartment in a boutique cooperate was found in derelict condition, re-imagined as an elegant, bright, and functional space. We painstakingly replicated mouldings and period architecture in a strong restoration effort. The furnishings are intentionally sculptural and sparse with layered, iconic vintage and modern pieces. Chalky white walls and brass accents brighten the entertaining spaces while sleeping areas are calm and tonal. The terrace was landscaped by Jeffrey Erb Landscape Design, with the intention to feel like an extension of the living room.

A quick six

Posted on Wed, 4 Dec 2019 by midcenturyjo

From old wooden cottages with expansive modern additions to triangular slivers of urban cool, here are a quick six that tickled my fancy on my real estate scrolling. Want to see more? Click on the pictures to go to the listings while they last. Via realestate.com.au.

Urban luxury hidden down a gritty city lane. Venture beyond the gates and this edgy, masculine interior is all about high end spec and industrial meets art gallery meets downtown glamour riffs.   Dark stone is washed by bright light flooding through walls of glass yet all is secluded and private. I’m real estate strolling scrolling in the Melbourne suburb of Carlton. Link here while it lasts.
