Warm contemporary

Posted on Tue, 14 Feb 2023 by KiM

We have known L.A. designer Mark Cutler for many years, from back when we first started this blog over 16 years ago. He reached out recently to say hi and share the news that he has partnered up with another designer, Nichole Schulze, and together as cutlerschulze they are creating magical spaces including this dreamy project. It is a modern home that they have added a mix of contemporary and antique elements to create a really dynamic and intriguing vibe that I can get behind. Bespoke beauty in Beirut

“A canopy of refined details, an assortment of colors and materials, a contrast between mass and void, what we expect to achieve from space design is synergyNatural light is our main orchestrator as it defines the way we read and therefore feel about space, each one of our interventions is mindfully tailored according to its visual impact and the way it would interact with its environment. We’ve always been interested in experimenting with rhythmic patterns of geometric shapes as they add a unique signature to each one of our projects.”

OMG the walls! The beautiful carved and curved artisan wall panels. What would be just a stylish space has been elevated into a stunning space. ANM Residence in Beirut by design studio David/Nicholas.

A joyous collection of pieces makes this tiny humdrum Madrid apartment a stylish home. What could be a chaotic clash is instead a celebration of the owner and their lifestyle. Eclectic is an overused term so let’s call it a curation of personality. Workplace and living quarters by María Lladó.

A 1751 château for sale in Marmande, France

Posted on Sun, 12 Feb 2023 by KiM

The property itself was built in 1751 and boasts many original features. The current living space in the chateau consists of 5 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, a magnificent entrance hall with original mosaic tiles, a large dining room and sitting room, a library with a vaulted ceiling and a new American kitchen. The real opportunity for the property is with its extensive outbuildings providing an additional 1100m² of space with endless possibilities. Some of the space is currently used as an art gallery and to showcase antiques. There are also stables with 11 horse boxes. The chateau sits in just over 5 hectares of land including a lake, meadows, woods and a formal walled garden. The chateau is 10 minutes from a large town with all amenities, 55 minutes from the centre of Bordeaux and 80 minutes from the Atlantic coast.
Not only do I dream of living in a château, but one with many outbuildings. Oh to have all that space to collect all the things!!! A stunner. For sale via Savills.

Working on a Saturday

It’s like I say week in week out. If you have to drag yourself into work on a weekend then it helps if it’s somewhere stylish. Then again is it really work if it’s in this lovely space? Then I realised it’s not a commercial gallery at all but a private one for both large-scale entertaining and retreat. Gallery Barn by IF_DO.
