Prue Ruscoe part 1

There are times when an artist’s work reverberates with you. There is a gut reaction. An awareness that things are pretty darn good. Australian photographer Prue Ruscoe has long been a favourite of mine (as you can see here, here and here) so it was only natural to visit her work again after reviewing interior stylist’s Shannon Fricke’s new book How to Decorate last week. Shannon and Prue are a dynamic duo when it comes to interior features for magazines. And look what I found on Prue’s rep’s site. Gorgeous, inspiring, wonderful, shiny, happy, pretty little visual gifts for us all. The woman is a genius with a camera.

Stalking 2

Warehouse stalking number 2. An apartment in a much bigger building in Surry Hills, Sydney. Perhaps we should call it a loft. Gone is the exposed and the industrial juxtaposed with the slick. Now it’s slick and modern all the way. High ceilings, concrete floors and metal windows are a hint at its past but now there are plywood cutouts, stainless steel kitchens and designer furniture. Still a touch of retro cool though. Gotta love the marriage of retro and warehouse. Which do you prefer warehouse 1 or warehouse 2?Link here while it lasts.

Stalking 1

Warehouse stalking. My favourite kind of stalking… after church conversion stalking. Today I have two warehouses to share. The first in Melbourne’s inner city Abbotsford is a modern refit of an old warehouse shell. Decks and courtyards, voids and levels. Modern with the old. Exposed brick and lots of slick. Love the retro vibe and the cameo appearances of IKEA fabric. Another property crying out for better photography. Link here while it lasts.

P.S. I really, really want that industrial workbench. I have just the spot for it!

And so to sleep

I could curl right up in this bed for an afternoon nap. Maybe breakfast in bed with the hubby and the kids or in my case the hubby and the fat dog. Another great photo by Hannah Blackmore.

Bright light and joyful. Full of life and vibrant. Sunny, fresh and fab. I could be describing the Australian lifestyle but instead I’m actually talking about Aussie photographer Hannah Blackmore‘s shots. If you think these images are cool you should definitely check out her food photography. She’s also a book designer and art director. Shows doesn’t it?
