Like a child’s drawing. A rudimentary shape recognisable as a house. It wasn’t there yesterday. Now settling softly in a new mown field with walls closed, little hint of what awaits within. Throw open the walls and breath deep. A simple structure, a simple life. Simply a dream. The ÁPH80 portable home by Spanish firm ÁBATON.
Sorry for the pun. I couldn’t resist. Just like I can’t resist these interiors designed by Luis Laplace and his team. Modern, international, artful and art filled, successful and beautiful. Paris based Laplace& Co.
“Do you live here alone?” I yelled back over my shoulder as I fumbled with the door knob. What confronted me was the most outrageous bathroom I think I have ever seen in real life. “Don’t worry”, I mumbled as I counted the tooth brushes on the sink. We’d struck up a casual conversation in a pub round the corner from my cousin’s flat the previous day. As you do. She was a stylist. She had regaled me with tales of her home over a few pints. Did I want to see it? Have a coffee? I wasn’t prepared for this. “I suppose you wouldn’t mind if I moved in?” I asked shaking the water from my hands as I re-entered the kitchen.
An amazing town house close to Camden Town via locations firm Wilde and Watson.
For those who have lamented in comments recently of the propensity of Australians to tack on the equivalent of a law firm’s modern waiting room to the back of an historic home here is a little traditional stalking. All be it sleek and white and cool. Woollahra, Sydney. Link here while it lasts.
Ultimate urban chic. That’s how the designers Spring & Mercer describe this Covent Garden show apartment. A desaturated palette, custom furniture, a nod to the mid century and a distinct masculine vibe. Ultimate urban chic indeed.
