esé studio

Crisp contemporary lines are warmed by wood and an earthy colour palette. Shots of colour are used sparingly to punctuate the calm spaces. Changes in level and the repetition of strong vertical elements define each zone. Pared back sophistication is the signature of this Lycabettus Penthouse by Athenian architecture firm esé studio. Modern Greek design at its best.

Up under the eaves sits an urban pad just right for inner city single’s living. Light streams into this warehouse conversion, bouncing off white walls and polished concrete floor. Small but not too bijou for entertaining with a weighted wall of glass and steel that opens up to the outdoor courtyard. Add a little of your own personality and you’ll have a stylish inner city base. Close to the action but safe and sound up under those aeves. Link here while it lasts.

A simple French apartment that may be small in size but big in style. Ideas to steal? The whitewashed old door track mounted to save space, the red cords on the island lights and a bookcase that makes a statement in an otherwise calm space. By interior designer Muriel Cibot. Très bon.

Apartment 1511

I’ve got another small apartment for you designed by Brazilian architect Alan Chu and Cristiano Kato (see previously featured apartment here). This one has 2 of my favourite design elements – flat black and raw/rustic looking wood. And they work SO WELL together. The kitchen tile is very odd but it’s growing on me – likely because it’s such an unexpected element with the rest of the apartment. I could absolutely live here.

Living small – Alan Chu

I found this compact São Paulo apartment designed by Brazilian architect Alan Chu and had to share. It’s got micro square footage but Alan made such great use of limited space. A single wall was converted into storage for both the kitchen and living room, which kept the majority of those spaces free for basic furnishings. I think he and the owner like subway tiles. 🙂 The spiral staircase is compact and a gorgeous architectural feature. Overall, a really cool space. (Via Casa Vogue Brasil)
