Jo’s place

Posted on Sat, 17 May 2008 by midcenturyjo

So I feel like a queen with a throne… or should that be a blogger with a bad case of retro! My new peacock chair fills a corner of my office (it’s HUGE!). For once I resisted the urge to paint a piece of furniture. It was such a lovely day today. The sun was streaming in through the window and all I wanted to do was climb into my chair and read a book. Sorry, too much blogging to do and besides a big comfy pillow is needed for the seat. It’s hard on the old bottom! The wall is a work in progress and the Keep Calm poster is a present for a friend. You know I tried minimalism once but just couldn’t do it. I wonder why?

Colouring in for grown ups

Scape Interiors is the fun and fab idea of Andrew Fedrigo. Are you one of those kids who always managed to colour outside the lines in your favourite colouring in book growing up? Scape Interiors lets you ALWAYS colour in between the lines with an interactive ‘colour your own’ contemporary canvas design system. Their new online store is a celebration of colour, pattern and typography and you can personalise and colour any of the 25 designs available online without one single colouring in boo boo. I’ve been lost in colour combos while playing on their site. Once an order is received your design is printed, framed and shipped to your front door. Love the no brand cans!

What’s in store this week

Posted on Sun, 9 Dec 2007 by midcenturyjo

I’ve been busy painting birds. Both my peacock and Scandinavian inspired bird prints have been popular this week. A couple of new prints too this week once again based on vintage embroidery patterns. Drop by my etsy store and take a look.

New in the shop

Posted on Sun, 2 Dec 2007 by midcenturyjo

I’ve just uploaded some new hand watercolored prints in my etsy shop. I have a new punked peacock and some trees. I also have been working on a vintage Scandinavian influenced pattern and have put up 2 versions hand coloured in turquoise and olive.

Just a little reminder that as I am on the other side of the world to most of you and it is the busiest time of the year for the postage elves, I cannot now guarantee delivery by Christmas to Europe and North America.

Art groupings

Art groupings – so graphic, dramatic, eye-catching, and makes such a statement especially when there is a similar subject matter. My new favourites are portraits and florals, particularly oil paintings. SO PRETTY. Here are some art groupings I found in my photo stash that I think work really well.
