This home was recently built with incredible views of the Vermont mountains and Sheila Bridges designed it with the outdoors in mind, with beautiful colours and some very à propos wallpapers used in many spaces, all of which depict flora and/or fauna. I love the concept of bringing nature indoors like that, subtle but not so once you catch on :). Photos: Frank Frances.

Robin Heller and Jen Levy are the designers behind Baltimore, MD based firm Surrounded By Color. We like to take whimsical, energetic, maybe-kinda-crazy-seeming ideas and turn them into cozy, lovely, livable spaces that make people happy.
These ladies rock both at using extensive colour in a space as well as through subtle accents. In both scenarios they create really energized, bright and modern spaces that would last through all the icky trends. And could easily be changed up a bit by swapping out some of the accent art or furnishings.

“The full refurbishment of a four bedroom family home in South London, with an emphasis on period features and vibrant, bold colours. Creating spaces to house an eclectic art collection and a love of antique furniture paired with custom upholstery in rich, patterned fabrics.”

This home (originally designed in the 1960s by legendary local architect, Alex Riley) sits above Tomales Bay in California’s Marin County. Transformed by Commune Design the focus is on colour, pattern and handcrafted details. Limewashed walls, refinished wood panelling and painted trim bring warmth and texture, while bold patterns and vibrant hues add personality to every room. Bespoke furnishings and artisan-crafted pieces, including an ornamental glass tile fireplace and custom light fixtures, have been integrated seamlessly into the design. The result is a harmonious blend of West Marin charm and Scandinavian-inspired vibrancy, with layers of character and thoughtful details throughout.

This 1869 Victorian home in Cambridge, Massachusetts is an absolute beauty inside and out brimming with original details that luckily the homeowners and Reath Design embraced. (The older I get and the more I hear about homes this beautiful being demolished or stripped of all their character, the more I appreciate people who aim to preserve the original). This is so whimsical and heartwarming, and even though I am not a fan of blue, the gorgeous muddy red of the dining room (Book Room Red by Farrow & Ball) and that sweet willow wallpaper are everything.
