Grand Hotel Son Net

Posted on Wed, 18 Oct 2023 by KiM

Son Net is a palace in Mallorca (at the foot of Sierra de Tramuntana) built in 1672 and was converted into a luxury hotel in 1998. I absolutory fell in love with this hotel the moment I came across some photos and learned it was designed by one of my all-time favourite designers, Lorenzo Castillo. The palacio suites can include private terrace with fountains, balconies, living room, private garden, outdoor living and dining area, portico, or you can ‘slum it’ 😉 and book a pool cottage suite or the pool cottage house. What a breathtaking place to book a holiday stay.

Timeless history and charm

The Northamptonshire country house, once soulless due to poor renovations, found new life through a thoughtful redesign. Every corner was reimagined, with the old drawing room transformed into a spacious kitchen and scullery, allowing for informal yet elegant entertaining. The former kitchen became a cozy library, adorned with rich hues and bookshelves. A light-filled day room provided a relaxing space, connecting the house with its history. The blend of old and new pieces created a timeless atmosphere, fostering a comfortable, fun, and enduring family life. An English Colonial home in Upstate NY

We uniquely reimagined this country estate and distinguished our design by its historic architecture, creating a dwelling that is equal parts past and present. Old-age European lifestyle and new-age sustainability are some of the hallmarks of our work and this home was intentionally imbued with character and richness, using vintage wherever possible. Throughout the home, we installed 80% vintage lighting and 60% vintage finds to support our sustainable ethos and convey a collected home full of sensible luxury.
I adore the moody colour palette (whiskey room is Farrow & Ball’s Pantalon, kitchen cabinets are Drab) and textural materials (they are clearly huge fans of shearling chairs) used throughout this home designed by Light and Dwell. Epic cozy levels here. Photos: Tim Lenz.

The Farm at Avebury, Wiltshire

Posted on Fri, 6 Oct 2023 by KiM

An old stable block in the heart of a family run farm is transformed into a B&B. Situated on a working farm in Wiltshire in a unrivaled location nestled into the rolling hills sits The Farm at Avebury. Five hideaway stables of varying sizes offer guests a break from the outside world. From an interiors point of view we had a lot of fun with colour and pattern, wanting to offer visitors something they didn’t necessarily have at home.
The colourful yet calming vibes of these transformed spaces are exactly what I would want on a vacation to Wiltshire, as opposed to staying in a bland and unwelcoming hotel. Designed by Polly Ashman.
