Stephane Chamard

Posted on Mon, 10 Mar 2014 by KiM

I professed my undying love to Stephane Chamard‘s work a couple of months back (here) and I have not been able to get his spaces out of my mind so I thought I would show little bits and pieces from several of his other projects. Each one is funkier than the next, with the most fabulous lighting, furniture and artwork. Bits of modern, mid-century classics, pops of colour and always in-your-face, no-fear vibes.  Love it!

Square peg in a round hole

Posted on Mon, 24 Feb 2014 by midcenturyjo

We live in squarespaces. Walls at right angles, furniture parallel. Perhaps the square becomes a rectangle but what if you live in a round space? What if you want to be a square peg in a round hole? Clever space delineation by Russell & George. Ceiling grids define the rooms and provide colour in a minimalist black and white palette.

space grace & style

“… a love of all things traditional, vintage, ambiguous and unusual – the studio excels in the unconventional juxtaposition…” Personality, a touch of whimsy, old with new. Bold colour plays against warm wood floors and bright light floods in through windows. Welcome to the Newtown, Victoria home of interior designer Rebecca Jansma of Space Grace & Style.

I want this house

Posted on Fri, 10 Jan 2014 by KiM

This is the Toronto home of interior designer and architect Stephane Chamard. I think of all the homes I have lost my mind over that I have featured on the blog, this one is my absolute favourite. To take an older home with incredible architectural details and modernize it with gorgeous funky furniture, black paint and amazing lighting and artwork is my dream. I could without a doubt move into this home and not touch a damn thing. It’s so fantastic I could cry right now. Stephane, I envy you with every ounce of my being.

Holiday chaos

Posted on Sun, 22 Dec 2013 by KiM

As usual, I waited until the last minute to get myself organized for the holidays. I blame it on having 2 jobs and too many cats. 🙂 And OMG this is the worst time of year when you’ve got nosy cats and no place to store wrapped presents out of reach. I spent about 4 hours yesterday wrapping presents and then we created a mountain of them by the front door so I can take the lot to my parents’ house tomorrow to stash until the big day. I caught 2 cats on the pile within 5 minutes. AAAGGGHHHH!!!!! Needless to say I am so freaking busy so I whipped up this post really quick. I love this home. It is located in Piacenza, Italy, and is a fabulously modern without being too cold. There is some bold colour here and there to keep it from being too stark, some REALLY amazing tiles in the kitchen for a serious jolt of pattern, some walls clad in the same hardwood as the floor to warm the space, and some to-die-for lighting (I have always wanted one of those Flos Parentesi suspension lamps!). I’m not a fan of the bedroom or grey bathroom though but the rest makes up for these. Via Le case di Elixìr.
