Stalking on a Saturday

Posted on Sat, 2 Mar 2013 by midcenturyjo

It’s raining here. Raining, raining, raining. In biblical quantities. What better time to plonk myself in front of the computer and real estate stalk? I’m in Bondi, Sydney. A contemporary home by architect Uri Turgeman and interior designer Shellee Gordoun. A series of rooms in open plan stretching either side of a cental garden atrium and leading out to the garden. Casual elegance with interest brought in through finishes and texture. Light, bright, white and… blue. My imagination is running riot. How would this space look with red or green or black or yellow? A good example of how a neutral base lends itself to painterly strokes of colour to change things up. Link here while it lasts.

Studio Indigo

Studio Indigo is a multidisciplinary practice based in Chelsea, London where architects, interior designers and property management specialists focus on the refurbishment and extension of residences in central London and abroad. Their projects are all spectacular, from classic and elegant to more modern and edgy. Their attention to detail and quality of workmanship is evident in the homes they have transformed. I adore the blue/grey walls in the first couple of photos – moody and dramatic but not too dark (and I generally don’t even like blue!).

That house

Hands up who hasn’t seen Sisley cosmetics Christine d’Ornano’s London home. Hands up who hasn’t drooled over the blue velvet doors and yellow chairs of “that” dining room/library. Hands up those who missed the m,any interiors magazine features including Elle Decor. The paintings, the OTT 70s floral fabric bedroom walls, the overstuffed sofas and modernist chairs. I love that house. So I was overjoyed to see Joanna Henderson‘s interpretation of the rooms. I think this talented British photographer’s images truly capture the everyday beauty, the family style, the livability of this fabulous home. Relaxed and casual but very, very special.

Speechless. No words. These photos. Amazing. Wait. Let me try. The soft light, the rich colours, the wonderful, casual vibe. It’s an interpretation, an understanding, an appreciation of beauty. British photographer Joanna Henderson. Considered and enchanted, captured through a lens.

Hello lover

Wrap my in your blue embrace and whisper sweet design songs in my ear. I could live with you forever and ever. My one and only room… until I fall for another. I may be fickle but I know what I love. Just one view of antique dealer Florence Lopez‘ Parisian studio. A tease, a taste. More here.
