Dear Kat Teutsch …

Your portfolio is brilliant! The colour, it’s graphic quality, the sense of fun, the punch of personality these photos pack. You’ve put a smile on my face and a couple of decorating ideas into my files. Fabulous photography by Kat Teutsch.

Very much

The morning draws on. The muffled thrum of a neighbour’s lawn mower provides the base note to the batting rhythm of a moth against the large window. There is someone somewhere in the house. A staccato of heels, the shudder of an old water pipe. A waft of coffee brewing. It cuts across the scent of gladioli. It is peaceful here. Beautiful. So beautiful. Time hangs still between the slow tock of an old clock. “Do you like my old house?” I turn with a smile and answer her. “Yes. Oh yes, very much.”

A funky dining space

I found the following awesome space on The Village, and while I don’t speak Russian, Google Translate tells me this is a space created by Herculis Studio. They might be a catering business, something culinary-related anyway, and they wanted a space to meet with clients and discuss projects and organize dinners and parties for friends. Just about all of the decor and furniture was purchased at flea markets around the world. I freaking LOVE this. Jo and I are flea market/thrift junkies and this space is so much fun and quirky and super cool. I can imagine spending hours in here with friends and family feasting and chatting and having a drink or 3. (Photos by Olga Eichenbaum)

Alexander James – new stuff

Posted on Tue, 23 Apr 2013 by KiM

I thought I had a new photographer crush a couple of weeks ago when I featured the work of super talented Brit Alexander James, but because he has since emailed to give thanks and let me know he was in the process of updating his online portfolio, my crush has turned into a full-on room porn obsession! Here are a bunch of my new favourites…followed by some awesome kitchens later today.

A little extra

I would absolutely LOVE to have a super long dining table. AWESOME. And the lighting almost send me over the edge. Add in bookcases and chalkboard and I am having heart palpitations.

I love a mostly modern kitchen…and then I see a kitchen like this and I want to change my mind. The moldings, the windows, the antique furniture as kitchen cabinets, and throw in that massive vintage light fixture and you’ve got one helluva sweet kitchen.

Eye candy once again by Alexander James.
