A new-build mountain ranch home in Oregon

The majestic footprint of the home needed an equally compelling design. This masculine rustic retreat was made with natural materials, organic accents, and an elevated approach for maximum comfort. We were able to translate the rugged surroundings into livable yet tailored spaces for this client and their family. From woodsy brown stains to neutral yet impactful tile, stone, and marble, each room feels like a retreat. The kitchen and dining nook have this moody and intimate feel to them. From the dark countertops to all of the complimentary natural stone, it is such a timeless combination. Rugged and elegant at once, the transition into the breakfast nook and dining space is seamless! We drew a lot of inspiration from Europe in this project.
This may be “rustic” but I’d add in there “elevated” and “refined”. It’s top-notch cabin living but no way are you letting people wander around with muddy boots on. Another one designed by Light and Dwell (maybe obvious because of their signature use of furry chairs…and now I need a furry chair). Photos: Michael Clifford

Some history and fun colours at No 34

Sharing another fine example of maintaining original details that are 100% worth saving whilst adding some modern touches along with colour and pattern in this gorgeous home designed by Sophie Rowell of Côte de Folk. Reupholstering that sofa in this whimsical Svenskt Tenn fabric and the terracotta stone floor in brick pattern were both brilliant decision. Photos: Chris Snook.

Celebrating colour and art

“Colour, materiality and the stimulus of art influence the many layers which interior architects and designers, Venetia Rudebeck and Romanos Brihi assemble in their work. Studio Vero was launched in 2014 and has since established a design vernacular for thoughtful spaces which combine a warmth, elegance, a reverence for tradition and sense of place.”

A joyful celebration of living with oomph. This Notting Hill house by Studio Vero is no shrinking violet. Colour, pattern, texture and standout art combine to bring to life modern family living.

Timeless history and charm

The Northamptonshire country house, once soulless due to poor renovations, found new life through a thoughtful redesign. Every corner was reimagined, with the old drawing room transformed into a spacious kitchen and scullery, allowing for informal yet elegant entertaining. The former kitchen became a cozy library, adorned with rich hues and bookshelves. A light-filled day room provided a relaxing space, connecting the house with its history. The blend of old and new pieces created a timeless atmosphere, fostering a comfortable, fun, and enduring family life. An English Colonial home in Upstate NY

We uniquely reimagined this country estate and distinguished our design by its historic architecture, creating a dwelling that is equal parts past and present. Old-age European lifestyle and new-age sustainability are some of the hallmarks of our work and this home was intentionally imbued with character and richness, using vintage wherever possible. Throughout the home, we installed 80% vintage lighting and 60% vintage finds to support our sustainable ethos and convey a collected home full of sensible luxury.
I adore the moody colour palette (whiskey room is Farrow & Ball’s Pantalon, kitchen cabinets are Drab) and textural materials (they are clearly huge fans of shearling chairs) used throughout this home designed by Light and Dwell. Epic cozy levels here. Photos: Tim Lenz.
