Glandyfi Castle

Posted on Sun, 13 Mar 2022 by KiM

Glandyfi Castle – A magnificent and stunningly restored Regency/Gothic Castle built in the early 19th Century, the castle stands high on a beautifully wooded hillside from where it enjoys far reaching views across the glorious Dovey Estuary to the Mountains of Snowdonia National Park (northwest Wales). The Castle, built of local stone and slate with mullion windows, square, round and octagonal towers and impressive chimneys, has been recently renovated throughout. The medieval stone courtyard with its immense stone walls now has a glass roof creating a stunning atrium ideal for dining, sitting and large- scale entertaining. The upstairs has nine double bedrooms, all complimented by their own bathrooms. This property has 31.43 acres of land. There is a range of former barns set away from the main residence which have the potential to be converted to residential or other usage.
This home has incredible bones and a view that is spectacular. The decor is mostly unfortunate and I am horrified at the kitchen and bathroom but otherwise a stunner. For sale via Strutt & Parker.

What a dream! Houses like this make me want to cry they’re so beautiful. This magnificent seven-bedroom, Grade I-listed house occupies an excellent position in the sought-after village of Croscombe, at the edge of the Mendip Hills in Somerset. The interior is replete with exquisite architectural features, ecclesiastical motifs and Palladian cornicing. Internal living space extends to over 4,500 sq ft across three storeys, with further opportunity to convert the adjoining coach house and attic rooms. The Old Manor is thought to have been built in 1460, originally as a rectorial manor house. The house is characterised by roughcast, limewashed walls and a magnificent Tudor chimney pot. A gothic-revival castle in Ireland

Posted on Sun, 14 Nov 2021 by KiM

I’ve dreamt about living in a castle in France or Italy but it appears I need to add Ireland to my list. This home was built in 1870, has 5 bedrooms, is  5,543 sq.ft. and is listed through Christie’s at just over 10M USD. St George’s is a most impressive towered and gabled red-brick Gothic-Revival house. It was built in the late 1870’s designed by George Coppinger Ashlin, one of the leading Irish architects of the 19th century. The description includes things like brass armatures, encaustic ceramic tiled floor, glazed lead panelled glass, chamfered Tudor archway, pink polished marble columns, open timber balustrade, corner turret, conservatory, butler’s pantry, oratory…
