I know it’s only Tuesday. The week has just begun but I have a hankering to get away, to pack my suitcases and check into a luxury hotel awash with as much nostalgia as design cred. Muted greens, browns and golden hues, mid century vibes, warm wood mixed with rattan (it’s even on the hallway ceiling) and a sense of good times, good living and simple elegance. I’m checking into Copenhagen’s Hotel Sanders by London-based design duo Lind + Almond. I’ll meet you in the bar.

I would give anything to take a vacation right now. And I think I have found the perfect spot! Los Enamorados is located in northern Ibiza, in the harbour of the little seaside town of Portinatx. This little paradise hotel consists of 9 rooms, a restaurant, beach bar and little shop (which includes some vintage finds). The decor is colourful, and rustic and sooo inviting. Oh how I would love to spend a week here!

We all fell in love with Casa Cook Rhodes. Now it’s time to do the same with its sister property. Taking inspiration from traditional Greek island architecture, Casa Cook Kos has a village-like feel with one and two-storey cubist houses grouped around gardens and patios. The palette is earthy and natural with a play on dark interiors and bright outdoor spaces. From rooms to suites and villas the experience is about low-key luxury. There is one problem though. It’s not really a weekend getaway. It’s more a lifestyle runaway.

Dating from the 1820s this historic stone barn in Tasmania has been lovingly restored by its architect owners. The award winning conversion keeps as much of the existing building fabric as possible. “The original sandstone walls are exposed both internally and externally. The timber shingled roof and existing beams contrast with the new kitchen and bathroom insertion. The Barn is light and open, yet simultaneously cosy.“ Located in Hobart’s CBD it’s the perfect base for exploring the historic Australian city. It’s definitely on my bucket list.

Thank God that week is over! Time for a little after work drinkie or two. Put on some new lipstick and run a comb through your hair. You’ll want to look your best because we are meeting up at Eden Locke in Edinburgh. Grzywinski+Pons took an 18th Century Georgian mansion and its 20th Century extension down to their bones and created this über stylish 72 room hotel, cafe and bar. Not that I’m suggesting we stay overnight. I don’t know you that well 😉
