You may have seen these photos before as this jaw-dropping, spectacular home in Darling Point of designer Tamsin Johnson (that she bought at the height of the pandemic!) made the rounds of magazines/blogs etc. but I thought it was a shame to not share something THIS GOOD here as well. It’s old and new, historic and modern, whimsical and elegant, and has a WOW factor that can’t be beat. I adore every inch of it. And this isn’t all. More to come later. (Photos: Anson Smart)

A place to cook, to sit, to eat, a place to gather … and a butler’s pantry just a step away. Cozy and inviting, warmed by its yellow and buttercream colour palette. I couldn’t leave today without sharing another wonderful kitchen diner by Côte de Folk.

The Kitchen at No.26

“I truly believe that our homes are a reflection of ourselves. A beautiful home is not just a frivolous desire to acquire nice things, it is about our engagement with the things that make us happy, calm and productive. For me, home is the space I am truly myself. It has to be many things to me, which means it has to be functional, but this doesn’t mean it can’t be beautiful as well. In fact, I think surrounding yourself with beauty, whatever that means to you, is an act of self-care that can change your life.”

A designer’s own space is a beautiful source of inspiration and it’s no different with this cosy little kitchen diner by Sophie Rowell, founder of Côte de Folk. Perfectly imperfect, colourful and cozy it’s the quintessential Brit cottage with flair.

A renovated Chelsea townhouse

Steps from the Highline, this townhouse is situated across the street from a city park and playground. As a result, the south-facing street façade is bathed in daylight. This complete transformation of the interior architecture responded to these site conditions by placing the kitchen at the front of the building, maximizing park views and sunlight. An enlarged rear façade opening, and renovated terrace space extend indoor living outdoors and to the garden. The creation of a double height parlor living area allows relief to the stair circulation through the introduction of a mezzanine. The renovation included new building systems, reconfigured room layouts to allow a floor-through primary suite, and new bathrooms for family living.
I am having a hard time getting beyond this fabulous Sebastian Cox for deVOL kitchen that greets you like a warm hug as soon as you walk into this beautiful home. And that double height parlor….. *sigh* By Oliver Freundlich Design. Photos: Chris Mottalini.

A warm and welcoming kitchen diner

“Originally the basement of this stunning home was made up of a warren of small dark rooms. Our clients being particularly keen cooks had a dreamy kitchen on their wishlist alongside essential designated areas for storage and preparation. “

The result? Warm, welcoming, efficient living spaces for a young family who love to cook and socialise.  The colour palette is calm and restrained while the materials are natural with an organic texture. Up in the attic, tired bedrooms were made over and a copper bath adds a touch of luxury.  Denmark Villas by British interior designer Emma Milne.
