Frama Studio kitchen

Posted on Mon, 16 Nov 2015 by midcenturyjo

A simple but stylish kitchenette at the offices of magazine Soundvenue by Danish design studio Frama. “Designed to be a free standing element in a space without mounting to any walls or floors, the Frama Kitchen portrays the light expression of a piece of furniture within the kitchen environment.” A striking bespoke unit of oiled oak drawers and black marble within a powder coated steel frame matched with pieces from their furniture collection.

This kitchen is INCREDIBLE! In this extensively renovated Brooklyn brownstone by Elizabeth Roberts/Ensemble Architecture, the wood floor was replaced with a poured cement plaster floor and the original wood closet was retrofitted to contain the kitchen cupboard, gas range and refrigerator. Brilliant!

Bergen Street townhouse

Oh how I love thee Brooklyn brownstones….especially when featuring the dreamiest of kitchens. The Bergen Street Townhouse is a 20 foot wide by 40 foot deep Italianate brownstone located in the Brooklyn neighborhood of Park Slope. The house was completed gut renovated to create a 4 bedroom, 3 bathroom house for a growing family with a rental apartment on the garden level. All walls including structural walls were removed from the Parlor Level to create a completely open plan for Kitchen, Dining and Living. A large steel and glass window wall was inserted into the rear of the house to open the Parlor Level to a new patio and stairs that lead to the garden. Via Elizabeth Roberts/Ensemble Architecture.

Blue Stallion Farm

Animals have been my passion for my entire life. After that came interior design. Blue Stallion Farm blends my 2 loves together into a magical place. Gany wrote to us about her farm and 3000 sq ft home in South Florida where she lives with her husband and 4 children, 6 dogs, 2 cats, 1 pig, 11 horses, 3 zebus, birds and chickens. This is every one of my dreams come true. The home is beautiful and bright and bohemian chic – pretty much one of the happiest places I have ever seen. Throw in a squishy pig face (see last photo) and I am totally dying of pure bliss. You can read the full story on Houzz.

When it is not about the decor

Posted on Sun, 1 Nov 2015 by KiM

This is one of those rare occasions where I feature a home that is lacking in the decor department but the architecture and finishes more than make up for it. All of the black painted trim/stairs/doors, the tile foyer floor, the stained glass front entrance, THE PERFECT KITCHEN, the wide plank flooring, and the tiled bathrooms make this home a dream. Then add in all of your favourite artwork and vintage furnishings and BAM! New on the Shoot Factory roster.
