Copper lighting love

A couple of weeks ago I mentioned my lighting obsession (lamp trampness) and blogged some pendants bedside.Today I thought I’d feature a round-up of one of my favourite light fixtures – Tom Dixon’s copper shade pendant. OMG this light fixture is HOT. The gorgeous copper colour (forget the bronze or the mirror ball, it’s got to be copper), the reflective shine, the simplicity….it’s to die for. And I don’t own one. YET. But I will. Because I have to.

Photos of note

Posted on Tue, 18 Jun 2013 by KiM

When devouring the portfolio of photographer Jonas Ingerstedt the other day, I found a few photos with elements I wanted to take note of.

I love wood left in its natural state – even plywood. This wall of shelving is so simple. LOVE!

I am a little distracted by the really cool Magis chairs but after wiping off my drool I noticed the rod along the ceiling – awesome minimalist idea for basic lighting.

And speaking of lighting, I’m still smitten with bare bulb light fixtures, and hanging them in this set-up is really creative. Especially when highlighting objects directly below.

Bedroom pendant lighting

Posted on Fri, 7 Jun 2013 by KiM

I am a self professed lamp tramp, but I have a particular fondness for pendant lights. It’s lighting that does not take up any space – you cannot go wrong with that! I have blogged pendant lighting bedside before, but I am such a fan of this somewhat unconventional bedroom lighting approach that I thought I would feature another round of photos. Happy Friday!

Communicating Vessels

Posted on Tue, 2 Apr 2013 by KiM

We recently heard from Barcelona architect Victor Gonzalez, of TC-Interiors, who wanted to share one of his projects with our readers.
Communicating Vessels is a 250 sq.m complete apartment renovation, located in the Modernist neighborhood of Barcelona. The design layout is a response to the client’s wish for a united, open space that could benefit the natural light form early in the morning to late afternoon. For this reason, all mid-walls were demolished and the windows at the communal side façade were enlarged. The only enclosed department built from the scratch is the Core, which includes the guest room and the service areas, leaving the rest of the space diaphanous. Every use is ‘marked’ by a Lighting Carpet, a customized and highly resolved lighting system. As the floor carpets do, the Lighting Carpets, ‘warm up’ a specific territory of this home while the same time, indicate the use, by their distinct positioning and size. This loft space is HOT. I love the concept of using lighting to delineate a space – much more creative than throwing down some area rugs.

Riad riot

Posted on Wed, 13 Feb 2013 by midcenturyjo

OMG! OTT! If only I could find myself lounging the day away at this riotous riad. A pleasure palace, a hedonist hideaway, a haven of over-indulgence. Too much? Never! Another gob smackingly wonderful location from the Hi-Location agency.
