I’m almost at a loss for words. This home in Wentworth-Nord, Québec designed by Montréal architect Alain Carle is so incredibly beautiful from the outside in. Most of the wood and stone throughout the house are reclaimed and are what really make this home special. Alongside the concrete floors, plaster walls and crittall windows, it is a winning combination. Bonus points for the dark stained wood adding in some moody drama. This is everything I love. The Stockholm apartment of architect Daniel Heckscher of Note Design Studio demonstrates quite dramatically the power of paint. Formerly a white box in an ugly building from 1988, he brought in a lot of creativity, which included some help from his 2 young children who must absolutely love spending time here. It is such a vibrant and whimsical home, and quite amazing when you think of how it can be transformed into something completely different with just a couple more cans of paint!

I will admit that white scares me. I very rarely wear anything white and I never buy white items for my home. This home designed by Jennifer Wagner Schmidt is refined, casually elegant and soothing and ALL IN WHITE! It is making me rethink my fear of white. Now if you could cover everything in plastic and it still look this good I would be sold. 😉

Sometimes I dream I live in a palazzo in Milan with faded frescoes on the walls  and beautiful old wooden floors. There are towering windows with heavy shutters and imposing fireplaces to keep the chill at bay. Placed carefully throughout the sprawling rooms are not so much pieces of furniture but furniture as art. I dream I can live in minimal luxury, immersed in restrained beauty. If my dream came to life it might just look like this private residence by Vincenzo De Cotiis … well a girl can dream can’t she?
