Up a winding lane in a village nestled beneath the Swiss Alps. Climb a rustic stair and… wow! This amazing renovation is by Christian Speck of Formzone. Lashings of rough and just enough luxe. It’s sleek and minimalist modern meets stone monolith and I love it. Age old beams and so fresh you can smell it pine. I dream of a view of the alps like that. A remarkable house in a remarkable part of the world.

Suppose Design Office is a Japanese architecture firm headed by 35 year old Makoto Tanijiri and employs what looks to be a bunch of very creative young people (from what I can tell on their profile page). That creativity oozes from every corner of every space they have designed. I am adoring the exposed concrete, the use of timber in somewhat odd places, cool staircases, wacky exteriors. Incredible. They definitively think outside the box.

For as long as I can remember I have wanted to live in a converted loft (and this desire has grown in the past 2 years since living in a 12′ wide home). What a pleasure to find an email in my inbox from Peter Wagner of Germany who wanted to share his loft with our readers. It is located in an old factory and in one year Peter converted the space HIMSELF into a spacious and cosy home that I am utterly envious of. Here are a couple before photos that show how much work he took on:

A limited palette but maximum appeal. Stark modern interiors by Paris architectural firm Joseph Dirand. Oh the luxury of pure minimalism. Imagine having a sleek and often hidden home for the “things” of everyday life. Clean lines may be cold to some but heaven to others. And just a hint of aged timber to warm the heart!
