Tribe Studio, again

Posted on Tue, 15 Jul 2014 by KiM

Jo has been known to spread the love for Australian architecture firm Tribe Studio (see here – I am still in love with those black bookcases with lights hanging above  – and here) but now it is my turn. Here is a mélange of several of their other residential projects featuring my favourite spaces. Simple yet effective. And oh so bright and airy.

Walker Workshop

Posted on Thu, 10 Jul 2014 by KiM

Walker Workshop is a Los Angeles based design-build firm founded by Noah Walker in 2010 with the intent of creating well-crafted modern structures. Our aesthetic is warmly minimal with careful consideration of light, space, and the unique characteristics of each location. The following snippets from 3 of their builds are simply stunning. This first home is an absolute work of art. All those windows!!!! *GASP*

The outdoor room

Posted on Wed, 9 Jul 2014 by midcenturyjo

Not quite indoors. Not quite outdoors. Something in between. A transition, a connection. By opening and closing shutters and sliding walls/doors the owners of this house extension can choose what and where the room is. Award winning small project design by Fremantle, Western Australia based Philip Stejskal Architecture.

Drift House

I’m still trying to escape the mid week blues. This time I’m off to Drift House in Port Fairy Victoria. Unique, individual, bespoke. The choice of four apartments contained within the original 19th century building and its very modern addition. Design by award winning architectural firm Multiplicity.
