Lake|Flato Architects

Posted on Mon, 26 Jan 2009 by KiM

The work of Lake|Flato Architects is jaw-dropping gorgeous. Architecture merges fluently with landscape. Spaces that leave you with a sense of serenity. Land, light, sustainability and community are all crucial principals they follow. The amount of windows and views they take advantage of are stunning. I’ll take them all.

David Jimenez

In my humble opinion, there is absolutely nothing more fabulous than mid-century modern and Hollywood regency. Pair these two styles (think Jonathan Adler) and I’m in heaven. PURE HEAVEN. My heart races when I come across portfolios as incredible as that of David Jimenez. I cannot believe Jo and I have not posted his work before. This genius of design has now made it to my top 5 list. His Palm Springs house, below, is something that dreams (mine anyway) are made of.

The following photos are of a 500 square foot apartment in Chicago that was renovated and decorated by architect Peter Roesch and his wife. They have since sold it to friends, furniture included. It’s simple, modern and clean-lined, with tons of storage to keep it clutter-free.

We posted these photos over on design*sponge but I just had to post them again here in large format. This dark luxe Sydney city apartment is elegant, sophisticated and masculine. When you tire of the luxury appointments you can always gaze out the full height windows at the amazing Sydney view. Another stunner from Greg Natale. Thanks for being so generous with the pictures of your work Greg.

PS Greg is sending photos of his latest white on white beach house. Can’t wait!

Couldn’t stop at one post about Beale Lana (see post below). I almost titled this one “If I was another room”. This amazing foyer was their contribution to this year’s Kips Bay Show House. Stunning! And yes those are silver egg chairs!! Glam punk and a dash of high style goth meets classic antiques and surfer chic. What a sense of fun!
