… with my feet up on the sofa, book in hand, music wafting in from the next room, doors thrown open, waiting for someone to disturb my reverie with an interesting conversation. What a lovely room by interior designer Alexander M. Reid.

Kelly McGuill update

Posted on Tue, 18 Oct 2016 by KiM

It has been an eternity since Jo featured some spaces by Boston-based interior designer Kelly McGuill. In all that time it seems her style has become more subdued with a bit more rustic and elegant elements. And I love every bit of these rooms. The neutral colour schemes are so soothing and I am absolutely in love with this first kitchen, which happens to be Kelly’s, and THAT GREY CARRARA MARBLE IS MY JAM!!!

Runaway to Morocco

Come take my hand. We’ll close our eyes and click our heels and be magically transported to 5 Columns, a beautifully restored 18th Century house in the heart of the Essaouira Medina, Morocco. If only it was that easy to escape the slow dragging drudgery of Fridays at work.

Contemporary Barn

Posted on Fri, 23 Sep 2016 by midcenturyjo

Close your eyes. That’s right. Close your eyes. Imagine a barn, a big, grey barn with huge doors that silde open to reveal views of lush green woods. Imagine the space divided into rooms intimate or vast. Now furnish those rooms with simple pieces, simple, beautiful, tactile things. Think of aged timbers and white wash, stone and linens, old but new. Open your eyes. Did your dream barn look like this one? Mine did. Contemporary Barn by  D. Stanley Dixon Architect.
