Bali escape

Posted on Tue, 2 Aug 2016 by midcenturyjo

I had planned this virtual Bali escape for days then this morning I heard the news that flights to the Indonesian island had been suspended due to volcanic ash clouds off shore. Oh no! We were all going to be lolling by the pool by the time this post went live. Fortunately we aren’t actually going. The volcano won’t actually spoil our trip. This is a virtual getaway after all. We can still plunge in the pool, shower outdoors and languidly lounge on all those built-in benches. Welcome to your Tuesday escape… Fella Villas.

Camellas-Lloret

Posted on Thu, 21 Jul 2016 by midcenturyjo

Take me away to the south of France. I’ve had enough of this week and it’s only Thursday! I want to run away to a place in the sun, with beautiful old rooms filled with stylish bits and bobs found at the brocantes. I want to be welcomed by hosts who know and love the area so well but who have themselves escaped the hustle and bustle to their own little piece of paradise. Take me away to somewhere like Camellas-Lloret, a charming B&B in the village of Montreal. Whether in one of the charming rooms in the main house or the garden apartment I know I would be blissfully happy.

Sun trap

A small but stylish garden in inner city Melbourne by Eckersley Garden Architecture. Pool, lush creepers, old Ash tree and privacy define the rear space while a simpler enclosed courtyard with over-scaled stone walls and limited planting makes the perfect little sun trap.

Aqua Di Mykonos

Who wants to join me in Mykonos? Dream vacation anyone?! The folks of mykonosestates.com real estate agency sent along photos of Aqua di Mykonos, a luxury villa near Agrari Beach that contains 4 independent structures – a main house, a pool house, a guest house and a kids/staff house. Not to mention the incredible pool and Jacuzzi with views to die for. What I would do to stay here….and Jo could join and we’d finally hang out in person together (about time I’d say, it’s been 10 years). The dream continues…

Succulent

No not juicy and lip smacking. No, succulent as in the plant. An inner city Melbourne backyard has turned its back on lawn and straggly shrubs instead embracing a cutting edge, or should that be sharp, specimen garden. Urban cool to get your creative garden juices flowing by Eckersley Garden Architecture.
