Villa Livia

I had to share another property available to rent from designer Jacques Garcia. This too is an absolutely stunning home in Sicily but this time set amongst a much more barren landscape than the previous one I shared. And like the last one, I’d be kicking and screaming on my way out. How could you ever leave this?

This is one of those times where the interior of a home really does nothing for me but I would take the exterior in a heartbeat. This is a recently completed 6500 sq ft contemporary designed farmhouse in Surry, England, with a to-die-for exterior (so I won’t bother sharing the interior). It features a natural swimming pond, pod summer house for sheltered outdoor dining, separate annexe, assorted stables, arenas, and barns set on 115 acres with stunning views of the Surrey/Sussex/Kent countryside. Available as a location home through Shoot Factory.

La Maison des Oliviers

This stunning property owned in the small town of Noto, in the south of Sicily is 330 sq m with 5 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms and is owned and designed by Jacques Garcia and available to rent. The Maison des Oliviers, located on a World Heritage site, is surrounded by numerous olive trees dating back two thousand years. The Villa, surrounded in this landscape, evokes the golden age in the 1950’s Café Society and an aristocracy which embraced modernity while remaining linked to the past. Upon entering the villa, the collection of art and objects will transport you into the culture of the 20th century. One can imagine seeing Maria Callas chatting with Jackie Kennedy, being hosted by Gianni Agnelli.

A U-shaped newly built home

I loooove the idea of a U-shaped home with a central courtyard. This home is a wonderful example of this concept. By LyonsKelly. This house is a new build, replacing a 1940s home that had been severely damaged by fire. The new house has a U-form plan with living spaces arranged around a central courtyard. The master bedroom is located in one arm of the U shape; with children’s bedrooms in the other. The front exterior is clad in timber which is used to trail climbing plants. The choice of furniture integrates existing pieces that the clients brought from their previous home as well as pieces specially designed for the space. The aim was that the house appears timeless and relaxed. To that end, we used classic designs as well as more contemporary furniture.

Fairway in Federal

“The spaces are shaped to feel as if they could have been part of the homestead for generations.”

Pared back with the luxury of space and materials. Generous and welcoming. A country home in the hinterland of Byron Bay for family and friends. Fairway in Federal by Studio George.
