Lazy weekends

Posted on Mon, 3 Jan 2011 by midcenturyjo

Last day of my 3 day New Year’s break and I have scrubbed and painted, weeded and mowed the lawn, entertained friends and started work on Kelvin’s man cave (here). I’m exhausted in a good way and now I am racing to get this post completed before an ugly thunderstorm hits. Wouldn’t it be lovely to have a small farmhouse in the country to run away to on weekends? A fireplace, a big eat in kitchen and a pool right off the back deck. Wouldn’t it be wonderful if it was this house? Mr Bank Manager any chance of yet another loan? Pretty please? Eeny, meeny, miney, moe

Which one? Which one? I’m stalking apartments in Sydney (Scott Weston’s deco dream yesterday had me rethinking apartment living.) First up today a 2 bedder in a funky old building, with a spectacular view from the roof (BBQ party anyone?) and a cool fitout. Red Platner anyone?. Inner city chic! (Link here while it lasts.)

The second is a neutral dream. Midcentury classics, the whitest of walls and a chic calm with harbour glimpses. I’d like a glass of wine on a Sunday afternoon on that sofa, a good book and occasionally getting lost in the view. (Link is here.) With Sydney prices being what they are these apartments are most likely out of my price range… hang on I already have a house. Can’t stop a girl stalking though.

Stalking

I get my new old house keys on Friday. All I have to do is hand over a big bank cheque. Packing is progressing, utilities are being connected and last minute panicking is under control. My house at the moment looks nothing like this one I found stalking real estate sites. I may have an open plan apartment but it is currently jammed full of boxes! Can you imagine living with that view?! I think I definitely need a perfect party patio for summer barbecuing. Link here while it lasts.

Running, worrying, freaking, stalking

I’m running behind with my packing. I’m starting to worry. Actually I’m freaking out. Still got time for stalking though. Melbourne’s inner suburbs are well known for their warehouse and workshop conversions. Here’s one in Richmond. Historic industrial facade (the Richmond Fire Station stables), sleek minimalist interior. Link here while it lasts.

Stalking terraces with tiny backyards

Two tiny terraces in Sydney today. Both with a masculine touch, both with a traditional hint of luxury but both with a contemporary edge. Both with teeny tiny courtyards. You’ll find the first one here but you will have to wait till after the jump (and scroll to the bottom) to see a stylish garden no bigger than most living room rugs.

Did you like the sleek white lines of the first home?Or perhaps the next terrace is a bit more to your liking. You’ll have to scroll to the bottom for the teeny, tiny garden but in the meantime you can find the link here.
