I know this one! I know this one! I lusted after it when I saw it in Inside Out quite some time ago. I want this one! I want this one! Sold unfortunately. (Who am I kidding? I could never afford Paddington, Sydney prices!) The house is just fab but I’m really in a splash about that pool in the courtyard. Find it here while the link lasts.

Scrubbed

Posted on Mon, 27 Sep 2010 by midcenturyjo

Hello scrubbed timber! Hello natural aged floors and mid century classics! Hello kitchen will you come home with me? Hello hello you beautiful home where have you been all my life? I have to stop stalking. My inspiration files are groaning. Just a few more pieces of contemporary art and I’d swear this was my house (I wish!). Today’s stalking also highlights what a good photographer can do to a good house… make it look even better. The real estate site says that the house has featured in a magazine and I bet you can tell which photos are from that article and which ones are the real estate agent’s. See! That’s why we always carry on about the photographers. Link to this lovely here while it lasts.

The artist’s house

Posted on Thu, 23 Sep 2010 by midcenturyjo

The artist is famous… and successful. The artist has an enviable home. Historical yet quirky, stylish and lived in like a pair of expensive handmade Italian moccasins too well worn to wear out and about but you can’t help yourself. When the walls aren’t adorned with wonderful paintings they are tattooed with whimsical murals. I want to grow up to be just like the famous artist then I could afford to buy his quirky home. Maybe he’ll just let me live in the converted stables until then. Link here while it lasts.

Stalking a wedding cake

Posted on Mon, 20 Sep 2010 by midcenturyjo

Can a house be so very different on the inside when the outside is a Italianate marzipan confection?  A wedding cake of a house all vanilla icing flourishes but what flavour is the inside? Seems that each layer is different. Love the kitchen. Can you imagine having that much space? Bright green doors, soaring ceilings. The bathrooms are interesting. A stylish take on the Moroccan riff but tell me truly why a bench beside the “throne”? And please someone dress the bed for the photo shoot! All said and done you’ll find me in the plunge pool with a glass of wine taking in the view. Today’s stalking house is here while the link lasts.

A confection of a house

Posted on Wed, 15 Sep 2010 by midcenturyjo

Stalking in Sydney again this week and how cute is the exterior of this house? Like a big iced cupcake. But it’s even more delicious inside. A stylish refurbished historical house opens through a modern extension to a subtropical courtyard. Sophisticated and fun with a killer position. The view!!! Any guesses as to the nationality of the owners? A big clue in one of the rooms. Link here while it lasts.
