Stalking on a Friday

Posted on Fri, 12 Feb 2010 by midcenturyjo

TGIF! Oh what a week. Definitely not one I’d like to repeat. Thank goodness for online real estate stalking to take my mind off icky illness and mounting piles of work. In my imagination I’m opening the front door of this Balmain terrace in Sydney, dropping my keys in the bowl and making a bee line to the fridge for a cold glass of white wine. I’ll turn, take in the calm of my home and sigh. My imaginary life is so lovely!

More black and white (and grey and lavender)

The other day a reader named Bo sent us this link to a black and white home on a Swedish real estate site. I thought it was a cool pad, but then while perusing the site I came across this home that really got me going. I LOVE the location, the open layout, the fresh colour scheme, the whitewashed wide plank hardwood, the grey trim, the black Smeg, the viewwwwww…….(thx Bo!)

Understated stalking

Real estate stalking in Sydney with this sophisticated take on contemporary design. Elegant and understated with impeccable taste.  It’s a modern take on luxury. Quality that doesn’t scream “I cost a fortune”. Architect is William Zuccon of Dods and Zuccon. (Can a stalker be restrained? Restrained in her taste not by the courts!) Link here while it lasts.

The old adage is true especially if this “fisherman’s shack” is in your price range. OMG the view, the boathouse, the wonderful retro vibe of the main house. If you buy this for $4 million (yes! that’s not a typo) please spend a little more on the interiors (or employ a better photographer AND a stylist for the next photo shoot) to make the dream complete. I can tell you I won’t be the new owner! Just a little too out of my price range. Link here while it lasts.

This post has been brought to you by sunny Australia where it’s warm and wonderful. Sorry all those under a blanket of thick wet snow. I’m so cruel 😉

Tale of two cities

Posted on Mon, 14 Dec 2009 by midcenturyjo

Once upon a time two wealthy “princesses” in two different cities decided to see what they could buy with millions of dollars. Let’s say in Sydney and Melbourne in Australia. They were a little disappointed because the property bubble never burst in Australia. House prices are still stratospheric but a princess must make do with just a fine house instead of a castle if she must. Here’s what our princesses found. The Sydney princess likes Woollahra (our first house) while her Melbourne rival likes the slightly more laid back (if you could even call it that) Prahran cottage. If you were a princess with a few mill to splash out which one would you choose?

The Prahran princess….
