An Alessandra Branca roundup

Posted on Wed, 12 Jan 2022 by KiM

Chicago based interior designer Alessandra Branca continues to work her design magic year after year and since it’s been a while since we shared some of her work I thought I’d feature a roundup of some of my favourites we haven’t shared before. Eye candy for your viewing pleasure.

Hunting Box Sherston

I am in love with this home designed by Caroline Holdaway. Traditional with colour and pattern makes it so warm and inviting. (Photos: Simon Brown)

This property originally formed part of a 16thC coaching inn. It is a flat fronted stone village house with cross mullion windows on the edge of the Cotswolds. The sole purpose of this gloriously neat and perfectly proportioned house was to stand as a hunting box for my clients. We removed a dividing wall downstairs opening up an airy space for socializing yet retaining it’s cosy appeal for intimate fireside evenings. Reclaimed timber floors and show stopping Raku fired floor tiles give charm in bucket loads to the kitchen and breakfast room. We purchased some perfectly figured reclaimed elm from which we crafted the kitchen and found some papier mache refracted glass cinema lights that illuminate the kitchen work surfaces. Carefully sourced antiques and client art work made this property a delight to work on.

Living above the shop

It’s fabulous to be back blogging in a new year. Here’s to 2022 being so much better and brighter than last year. I couldn’t think of a better home to start off the year than this apartment above a shop … but not just any shop. It’s Barracuda Interiors showroom in the sea side town of Comporta, Portugal. Think relaxed beachy vibe with natural materials, old found pieces and the occasional pop of colour against a bleached out colour palette. The perfect holiday getaway or imagine being lucky enough to enjoy it year round.

A colourful family home

Notting Hill based design firm Barlow & Barlow embraced colour in this project for a fashion stylist who appears to take family life pretty seriously. 😉 This home has such a great energy for children to grow up in and is so lively and whimsical. I’d take this over stuffy and over-done any day.

A bohemian farmhouse

I had to share another inspiring project by Lauren Liess and I must point out that this one includes the library of my dreams. This modern farmhouse with a cozy bohemian vibe was designed for a busy family of five who love being outside. The home has a mix of colorful patterns and neutrals. Our clients’ overall goal was to create a strong indoor-outdoor connection and easy entertaining. (Architect: Thomas French Builder: Daniel Valencic of Great Jones Build)
