Solange van Dorssen is an interior designer from Argentina currently in Barcelona working as a stylist for architectural and interior design magazines for Spain, Argentina and Red Cover (London). She wrote us about a home we had blogged recently and when I read that she was a stylist I of course had to go poking around her Flickr photostream to check out her work. Am I ever glad I did because the homes Solange has styled are beautiful and styled to perfection! I am always a fan of decor from abroad. So much texture and pattern and best of all creativity.

Take two art nouveau houses circa 1906 in Brussels, Belgium. Renovate in white white white. Mix well with an enviable collection of mid 20th Century Scandinavian furniture. Layer with original art. Shake well in the cocktail bar and pour out the smoothest long cold drink of a getaway guest house you could ever wish to order. Cedric Meuris and Bernard Devaux had the vision. Tenbosch House, an exclusive small hotel is the result. It’s Friday. It’s virtual getaway day. I’ll meet you in the bar at 7. Date?

Harmony. That’s armonia in Italian. “East Coast elegance meets West Coast style” in Emily Ruddo’s portfolio. This L.A. based interior designer brings her clients bright and fresh rooms with lashings of colour and texture. I’m in need of a colour hit and Armonia Decors fits the bill. Touches of turquoise rub shoulders with raspberry red grounded with bright whites and neutral textures of sisal and grasscloth, matchstick and mohair.

It’s Wednesday, the middle of a VERY long week, and the 3rd week I have been acting for my boss while she’s been on holidays (GUESS WHO NEEDS SOME HOLIDAYS NOW??) My husband and I have not heard from our project manager for our house renos/addition in over 2 weeks, and we’re hoping ANY DAY NOW we’ll get our permits. I am having a hard time scoring some discounted bathroom fixtures and flooring. We’re still waiting to hear from the bank, something that was supposed to be simple and take 3 days has now been over 3 weeks. And my little sister turns 30 today. (30?? WTF???) I have to say, I did feel better for a few moments while looking through the website of Finnish magazine Avotakka (previously blogged here, back when I was also bitching about something or other).

Annette Ekjord is an interior designer and stylist based in Oslo, Norway whose clients include Ikea and many of my favourite Scandinavian magazines such as Sköna Hem, Hus & Hem, Bo Bedre and Vtwonen. I am in need of a bit of a dose of scandi and white today, so join me with a deep breath and a great big *SIGH*.
