Paul Costello update

Posted on Sat, 22 Sep 2007 by midcenturyjo

We’ve featured Paul Costello before. Unable to sleep because of an aching back from upholstering chairs I stopped by his site and was in for a pleasant surprise, an updated portfolio. I love Paul’s work. There is a spark in every one of his photos. Rooms come to life captured through his lens. Of course he is responsible for some of the most popular interior photos of recent times. Just look at the first one here. Who hasn’t got that one in their style tray? So if you’re looking for some eye candy this weekend drop by his website and enjoy all the inspiring new images.

Noel Jeffrey

A giant on the American interior design scene Noel Jeffrey has woven his magic for more than three decades. Though he may seem a traditionalist he embraces all styles. Unashamedly high end and beyond the reach of most what can his work teach us? The the key is in the detail, that layering is luxury in itself and that the fun is in the extras. A bobble trim on a dining chair cover, diaphanous drapes on a bed, shades on your scones in your all too girly dressing room. You may not click with his style but you have to give more than a nod to his skill.

Mail from Kim!!

I love parcels in the mail and this one from Kim is fantastic! Three magazines including two from Domino, Canadian Indian art cards and print, necklaces, table runner from the fabric in her dining room, flock paper from her canvases in the hall and a cute piece she picked up on etsy. I love the pieces that are connected to her home and I particularly love the card that came with it. You see I got to see her handwriting and that was like seeing Kim. (We still haven’t even heard each others voices.) The card was the best thing….well maybe the two copies of Domino were. Just kidding!! Thank you so much Kim.

Robin Bell

“A profound respect and keen observation of the rigorous aesthetics of classical design is evident in all of Ms. Bell’s work, including her contemporary projects. Inherent in her coordination of color, scale and proportion are the influences of the English and Continental designs of the Eighteenth and Nineteenth centuries.” But look at the contemporary twist that Robin Bell’s work has! Her use of pattern is nothing short of breath taking. Although these homes have their roots in tradition there is nothing stuffy or dated about them. Quite the contrary.
