The New Old

Simone Haag “likes to think of a house as a blank page, an empty book – boundless, full of possibilities – a story wanting to be written, a tale waiting to be told.” In the case of this Melbourne house she has penned a best seller. It’s a collaboration between stylish fashion director client and designer, the end result being a sensationally chic and fashion forward house. That living room sends shivers up and down my spine and did you notice the gradation in the dining chairs? Sigh!

A modern and elegant apartment in Poland

Posted on Wed, 25 Apr 2018 by KiM

I’m always a fan of style mixin’, and in this apartment in Gdańsk, Poland it starts with some some classic moldings, chevron hardwood floor, a clawfoot bathtub and some exposed brick. This is all modernized in bright white with added built-ins, mirrored walls (storage perhaps?), contemporary furnishings and lighting and some funky tile work. A very dynamic and stunning space designed by Anna Maria Sokołowska. (Photos: Fotomohito)

Natural whites

A match made in heaven, white accented by natural finishes and a neutral highlight. Always fresh. Always fabulous. Pacific Palisades by Jeremiah Brent.

ECHE

A stark palette of black and white provides the theatre at the heart of the design of this Potrero Hill residence by Eche Martinez of San Francisco based interior design firm ECHE. The tension between the two is tempered by warm wood tones while the play on opposites is continued with slick modern pieces and timeless antiques. It’s a graphic approach, one destined to create drama in any space and one that can only inspire.

Bright and white

At first I thought I was just having another kitchen crush moment going on but it’s so much more. Don’t get me wrong. I love the this white kitchen with its sleek contemporary lines and hidden surprises. There’s even a nod to traditional kitchens and don’t get me started on the floors. The Serge Mouille light and the Hans Wegner Wishbone chairs finish it off to perfection but the true hero of this space? The beautiful light flooding in through the wall of steel framed windows. What a luxury. It’s not just the kitchen though that has me squealing with delight. I know you’ll love the rest of this Prospect Heights Townhouse by Elizabeth Roberts Architecture & Design as much as I do.
