Opulent, elegant, sophisticated and refined. Not to everyone’s taste but there’s an other-worldy quality to Alidad‘s spaces that provide an escape to the everyday.

I still have San Miguel de Allende on my list of must-visit places and what a dream it would be to stay at a place as gorgeous as Mesón Hidalgo.
Laura Kirar was leaving the city of San Miguel de Allende for another when she stepped, by chance, through the doors of a centuries-old manor house off Calle Hidalgo and—utterly enchanted—into an entirely different story. The house, renamed Mesón Hidalgo, was founded in 2019 as an intimate collaboration between four women-led brands rooted in México—a designer, a silversmith, a clothier, and a perfumer. Blurring the lines between environment and experience, style and lifestyle, history and present, México’s first guesthouse-boutique offers three one-of-a-kind, private guestrooms (designed by Laura), four luxury shops, and endlessly curated experiences hosted by artists and inspired by the spirit of San Miguel de Allende. From the artisan soap in the bath to the art on the walls, nearly every unforgettable detail of our home is designed to become part of yours.

I’m really digging the vintage vibes in this Hampstead apartment designed by Lonika Chande, but CAN WE TALK ABOUT THE YELLOW KITCHEN! WOW! That shade of yellow could not be more perfect. This is one to stash in the inspiration folder immediately! A former Artist’s studio, this dated first floor apartment was reconfigured to create a unique London pied-à-terre. An artist herself, the client already owned some pieces that she was keen to incorporate, and these formed the basis of the schemes. Focusing on a warm, earthy palette created the perfect backdrop for the existing artworks, sourced antiques and furnishings. (And check out this project by Lonika Jo featured last year)

I continue to dream of stately manors and castles in the countryside (far away from the frigid winters and uninspiring architecture of Canada I find so soul-crushing). This one built in the 18th century in Suffolk is home to interior designer Kate Earle of Todhunter Earle, and is full of character and history evident with the addition of a plethora of antiques and textiles. What a beauty.

Such a wonderful colour palette and overall youthful and invigorating vibes in this London townhouse designed by Riona Dundas. I am taking note of the marble bathtub surround in the pink bathroom – so pretty! (Architecture: A&A Architects; Photography: Simon Brown)
