Elegance with colour and pattern

Posted on Mon, 14 Jun 2021 by KiM

Designer Josh Greene knocked this project out of the park! This was a complete renovation of a full-floor apartment on Manhattan’s Upper East Side. It is loaded with elegance and class which in my humble opinion is hard to pull off when using lots of colours and patterns. I especially love the lacquered cobalt blue walls of the library with the wallpapered ceiling. So dramatic! And must give props to the acid green silk rug in the dining room – what a statement! The Peter Pan House

It only makes sense to name the home in which JM Barrie wrote Peter Pan The Peter Pan House. This West London townhouse is a Grade II*-listed property in which not one single detail (door handles included) can be changed without permission, and thus its quirks were reserved, and the owners requested the designer, Studio Ashby, utilize lots of colour and pattern. It’s traditional yet full of energy and whimsy. (Photos: Brotherton Lock)

I am completely smitten with this bold, pattern-happy traditional Spanish finca designed by Matthew Williamson. In 2018 Matthew converted this once derelict house built in 1920 into a luxurious, modern family home with 2 bathrooms, 3 bedrooms, dining and lounge areas. Along with extensive garden and summer room renovations, the home has undergone a radical and stylish transformation.

The home of James Coviello

When I scan the latest photos posted on Instagram, I am thrilled when a new photo pops up on James Coviello‘s feed. His 1840’s Greek Revival getaway in Hudson Valley, NY is filled with incredible antiques (his passion) that are always impeccably styled. It feeds my need for traditional, imperfect, rough around the edges living – all with a little sparkle and shine and Maurice the adorable pup.

An elegantly whimsical apartment in Milan

London/Milan based designer Nicolo Castellini Baldissera created a colourful cacophony in this Milan apartment. It has a wonderful European, travelled sensibility and all of the beautiful colours on the walls really add life and dimension. (Photos: Guido Taroni)
