And now a word from our new sponsor

I could use a green tea right about now (it was a very VERY long day), and considering the state of my kitchen, I could also REALLY use some cabinets from Greentea Design. It’s a Toronto based Asian furniture retailer with a large selection of contemporary and antique pieces and a strong commitment to the environment. They’ve been around for over ten years, and judging by the products featured on their website, I’d say they’ll be around for many more. Not only do they carry kitchen cabinetry, but living room, dining room and bedroom furniture as well. Gorgeous!!! (Thanks Michael!)

Kelly Wearstler does it all

I LOVE Kelly Wearstler’s style, and when we got an email about a new project of hers I was excited to post about it.

“Poised to aesthetically amaze the most astute of second-home buyers with inspiring designs by internationally acclaimed tastemaker Kelly Wearstler, Viceroy Anguilla will unveil its model four-bedroom villa on Barnes Bay, March 15. This season offers the final opportunity to own part of Viceroy’s flagship overseas development – a limited collection of beachfront and blufftop villas, townhomes and resort residences embracing the pristine natural beauty and tranquility of this West Indie Island. “Overall, I was inspired by the tranquil beach setting,” comments Wearstler of her work at Viceroy Anguilla. “In designing the property, we used textiles and techniques from all over the world, including hand-carved wood pieces from Asia, hammered metalwork from India and beaded artwork from Africa which offer a visual contrast with the modern architecture.””

WOW!!! Vacation anyone???

Gregga Jordan Smieszny

Alex Jordan and Dan Smieszny are co-presidents of the architecture and design firm Gregga Jordan Smieszny whose work has been published in countless Architectural Digests and House Beautiful among others. I admire the diversity of their work – it spans mid-century, art deco, neoclassical, modern and more. No matter what style, it all reads as elegant and sophisticated.

Stella Nicolaisen

Another fabulous stylist from the RE:FRESH Agency. Stella Nicholaisen has a must see portfolio. Gorgeous styling, gorgeous colours, inspirational ideas. Love the first image with it’s oversized postcards, the whimsical teacups tied onto parcels in the last and the wonderful orange, so bright and brave.

Kim and I love Flickr not just for the great inspiration but also for the interesting people we meet. Thrift Store Addict is one such Flickr member. Thrift Store Addict, let’s call him T.S.A., is exactly what his name implies – someone who spends their spare time haunting local thrift stores searching for interesting finds. T.S.A. has taken it one step further though. He has furnished his apartment with retro finds from the 50s, 60s and 70s and he never pays more than a couple of dollars for each piece! His Flickr pages are filled with his thrift shop treasures and we have slowly seen his living room change over the months as new pieces are incorporated. As you can tell from the photos he likes to swap things out. Nothing is “precious” except that it is because T.S.A. has found it, researched it and shared it with others. Some may just see clutter. Others will see funky finds and a commitment to a “green” ethic of reuse. I see a groovy bachelor pad.

P.S I must warn you though T.S.A. is addictive himself. A totally charming guy! Oh and an update…the T.S.A. etsy store is coming. Seems like his closets are groaning with goodies and he has to off load some loot. We’ll keep you informed.
