Colour reaches out from white surrounds. Grabs your attention. Makes you smile. “I wish I had found that piece. Some people have all the luck.” Real and thrifted, vintage and treasured not “precious”. Simply pretty. Yes oh so pretty. Wonderful work by stylist Tara Sloggett.

I saw this house tour on Dos Family recently and fell in love. It is in fact 2 tours – the studio and the home of artist and fashion illustrator Lisa Grue. The workspace is so open and bright and would be an amazing place to bring out one’s creativity. Lisa’s home is equally bright and colourful and would be the perfect place to raise a family. And said piece of furniture must be clearly visible in the photo, so it takes center stage rather than your pet. Think of it more of a photo of a great piece of furniture that you want to show off…and your pet happens to be sitting on it. And second, the photo must be of decent quality. If it’s dark or fuzzy (from a camera phone) then it may not make the cut. Thanks! I am sending you a picture of my dog Dyrgja (14 years old). I just finished furnishing my sisters apartment and desire to inspire has been a great help. Thank you! I actually found the inspiration for the ‘Hi!’ in the picture on desire to inspire. When you blogged about Mark Zeff in September I was instantly in love with the ‘Vicious’ sign on the wall and it looked like something I could DIY, so I decided to make a big sign for my sisters living room – this is how it turned out.

I’ve attached a picture of my cheweenie (chihuahua/dachshund mix) named Ty for your consideration. I was taking pictures of my patio for my blog when Ty just hopped up on one of the lounge chairs. He posed himself in every shot and I think he really added to my photo shoot. Don’t worry though. He hasn’t let the fame change him.

This is FannieBelle (named after my great grandmother) my pet hedgehog! Here she is pictured on an antique bedside table that I painted silver. She loves running around around my room but if I take my eye off her, even if for only a second, she quickly scurries off to explore new nooks and corners.

Definitely far from the norm. Minimalist, white, mid century classics, a dash of black to heighten the mix, bagged bricks and bleached floors and just because it’s amazing how about the IKEA PS MASKROS sitting cheek by jowl with Hans Wegner’s Wishbone chairs. Wild storms are approaching. I must be quick before the lightning comes. As I watch the angry clouds race across the sky I couldn’t think of a better post than this one featuring the bruised colours of stylist Hilary Robertson (via Big Leo). Accept that these are calming and soft like that fleeting moment after the rain has stopped, when the calm descends but the light is still other worldly and the thunder rumbles away into the distance. Beautiful colours. Beautiful work.
