Sergio Ghetti

Posted on Fri, 14 Oct 2011 by KiM

Happy Friday everyone! Hope you all get to enjoy some great weather and fun activities. I will be taking a break from studying tomorrow night for dinner out and a Kings of Leon concert (LOVE them Followills!). I leave you today with some fine images from Italian photographer Sergio Ghetti. I find portfolios like Sergio’s very intriguing. The spaces are rather raw and natural (he even had the opportunity to photograph a grotto doubling as someone’s home!). It is a nice break from the overly styled photos you find in magazines where everything is far too perfect. I am not a fan of perfection.

Rustic idyll

On Monday I featured a French dream of a house by Isabel López-Quesada. I thought I’d round out the week with another of her rustic projects. Corrugated iron is part of the Australian building vernacular. The rusty iron shed is burned into the Australian psyche. Never quite saw it done like this though. When faded chic meets iron shed. I’d love a weekender just like this… in a moderate clime I think. Not so fab with heat or cold but we’re dreaming here right 😉 ? Speaking of a dream… that kitchen! Sigh.

Row of jars

I LOVE this kitchen renovation I found on Dwell, in particular the integrated row for spice jars created between sections of Ikea cabinetry. (It reminds me of the row of jars filled with dry goods I had created in the kitchen of my previous home. I miss the convenience of it ALOT).

Eva Kylland

While I sit in French class day after day suffering (it’s one-on-one, with me talking on and on about my day job), I desperately find myself requiring some mental relief. I steal moments thinking about the new boots I ordered, humming songs by the new band I discovered (I can hear them practising as I write this) and dreaming about inspiring interiors, such as the ones below photographed by equally inspiring Norwegian photographer Eva Kylland whom I discovered the other day. I will spend today thinking about the photo above. DREAMY.

Warehouse stalking

Posted on Thu, 13 Oct 2011 by midcenturyjo

Yes please! Real estate stalking again. Look at the space, look at the windows, look at the wire railings, the plunge pool, the Japanese style dining (love a pit to sit in… just can’t handle sitting cross legged at my age), the stairs. OK I’m not quite enamoured with the decor. A little too “boy brown” 😉  I’m sitting here daydreaming of how I’d furnish it and as I have lots of “virtual” money to buy it I can, of course, afford stellar art to fill it. You see I wouldn’t have wasted my money on the cars. Art. Furniture. Sculpture. They’re my vices. Still the warehouse is pretty damn cool. Just needs a few tweaks to fit me fine. Are you a home cinema type? Not sure if I am. All this space in Surry Hills, Sydney! Link here while it lasts.
